exploring we will go

A while back we made the promise to each other to always make time to seek adventure as a family (you can read about it here). Exploring new places and going outside is a big part of our daily lives and once in a while I like to share a little peek into our adventures.

December might just be one of my favorite months here on the Oregon Coast. We have some wild storms and weather systems that pass through by the hour (that are amazing to experience) and when the rain stops everything feels a like magic. The entire world around us is covered in every shade of green you could ever imagine! Yes we are green all year but during the winter all that rain make everything even more green and everything, I mean everything is covered in a layer of moss- sometimes my eyes cannot handle just how bright it is.
When the rain stops on the Oregon Coast you gotta drop everything and head outside because it is likely another storm will be coming. We've had some beautiful and chilly December days outside- soaking up the green forests, hiking through the mud, climbing over fallen trees, wading through rivers and hunting for sunsets. Here is a peek inside our adventures.

You live in such an amazing place! We are in storm season on my little island as well and I love how everyhing comes alive and the roar of the ocean that lasts long after the storm has ceased. I do envy your beautiful forests with such amazing tall trees. Where I live trees had to planted by the locals to protect the town from the sand about a century ago, but originally we didn't have any, so our forests are like little babies compared to yours.
Thanks for sharing the beauty of your surroundings with your readers (both outdoors and indoors).

Lucy in front of that giant tree - absolutely precious! It is hard for me to wrap my head around how lush the landscape is at this time of the year. We haven't had that much cold weather or snow in NE Ohio so far this year and the grass is still green, but lush it is not. Thanks for sharing these special family outing with such gorgeous pictures!

What a wonderful part of the world you live in!!! I LOVE that kind of country and vegetation which seems to be so close to beautiful oceans as well by the looks of your other photographs you post here. I can't complain as we have beautiful beaches but we're about to hit average 38-40ºC days and we don't get too much green around here, not even in Winter, unless you go at least 4 to 5 hours south of here (I'm exaggerating about the green a little). It's beautiful and you do get green, but it's certainly not quite the same. I live in Perth, Australia. I also can't complain as we've probably had one of the mildest Decembers on record as far as I can tell which means we can still enjoy swimming at the beach, parks, walking ... any physical activity actually, which sometimes isn't the case for this time of year as it's too hot. Anyhow, absolutely lovely photos and countryside. A place I'd love to visit. It's lovely seeing other parts of the world through another humans eyes. Thank you.
