gratitude stones

When it comes to entertaining, I love having something that my guests can take away. Since I love all things handmade, my little gifts are always creative. This year I made what I am calling "gratitude stones". They are flat painted stones with a quote about gratitude.

While I wish I could have hand lettered all of the stones, we have a huge Thanksgiving feast to prepare this week so I took a short cut and printed out my gratitude quotes.

Next, using Mod Podge I glued the quotes to the stones.

Then I painted them.

And added a few small embellishments.

These colorful little stones will be in a bowl as part of my Thanksgiving table setting. Guests can grab a stone to take home with them and be a great reminder to embrace gratitude every day!

I have something similar... I write inspiring and uplifting quotes on stones and place them in a bowl. When I'm having a hard day I'll pull one out and place it in my pocket. It reminds me throughout the day to stay positive! :) These are really beautiful!

Thanks for bringing up a great memory of my Dad... we used to paint rocks and put them in our garden... I don't remember why we did it, but we did. One rock said "Turn Me Over" and the other side said the same thing. When someone would pick it up and read it, my dad and I would giggle b/c we shared our own little secret! I was about 13 and thought it was so funny!!!

What a lovely idea for your guests! I live alone and don't have anyone to celebrate with, but if I did, I would make these. I wish you and your family a happy and healthy Thanksgiving.

That's a great idea! I just commented that I live alone, but I could make some for myself and use them this way. Thanks for the inspiration.

You are amazing with your ideas Alisa. Happy Thanksgiving. We don't celebrate it here but we hear a lot about it.

I love these! What did you use to paint them so the words showed through?

Lovely idea and very pretty. Everything you do is great. But, did you notice that gratitude is spelled wrong in a few of the quotes?

What pens did you use besides the sharpie? I LOVE this idea! And Maureen, you could still hand these out to your neighbors - they would love them and you would be so blessed by sharing this spirit of giving.
