fashion friday- back necklace

The Oscars aired last weekend and I could care less about the movies- I watch for the fashion! And something I noticed that is trending lately and appeared on the red carpet are back necklaces- yes you read that right- back necklaces! During the airing of the award show, me and my house full of family had a good laugh about how silly a back necklace seemed but then I got to thinking about it... who says you have to wear a necklace in the front? And after doing some searching I found this trend kind growing on me. I don't have any place to wear a back necklace but I kind of think they are pretty. What do you think about this trend- silly or pretty?

I like them. Big and chunky in front... tiny and delicate at the back. How many people have a beautiful back!

Lovely for fashion, special occasions where you would where something backless. Love number 4: beautiful tattoo, cross straps and turquoise and tan. However, I have visions of them getting caught on the backs of chairs or pulled against the neck getting in and out of the car. Just me.

I like them when they are simple and delicate. Thats kinda of sexy to me. I do not like them if the dress has straps on the back too. Must be a bare back or things just get confusing.

My first thought: Oh, how practical for a breastfeeding mama! Lol. I guess you can tell what stage of life I'm in right now. Here I thought I had to give up my long necklaces for months. Maybe not. I wonder if it would work for a casual look?

fine for fashion but what looks good/okay on the runway doesn't always translate to real life!

I like the shorter aqua one. The long ones look like a choking hazard to me.

At first, reading just the words, I thought it was silly. Then, looking at the photos I found it quite pretty, better without straps and not too heavy. It magnifies the beauty of the ladies' backs.

I'm about to be all nerdy art historian, but Egyptians were big into back necklaces as well. Actually, they used the back necklace as a counterweight for the front part. It was all heavy, obviously, made out of gold and jewels. But they were gorgeous. I think these ones are just kind of a lighter, smaller, more modern version. I really like them. Especially #2 and #4.

You Know...I, too, am having it grow on me from looking at your pictures! I had not even noticed it Oscar night!

I used to work at a beaded jewelry/speciality store, the main designer often placed dangles down the back of her jewelry. She believed the back should be decorated too. I like this thought and use it in my jewelry designs when it is appropriate.

I like dainty bits dangling down the back. I don't like big chunky ones that look like you have your necklace on backwards!!!

Considering that a woman should show off her back as it's the last part of our bodies that show our age, I say go for it!

I'm not the kind to go bare-backed, but I think they're kind of neat. I liked Anne Hathaway's high-collared dress, she called it "business in the front, party in the back!" (And she had on a back necklace.)

or blouse i find it quite nice
to wear a back necklace.

For those at an early stage of puberty, you have to condition yourself that it will always be that way. You will find it hard to predict what your teen would like to wear. Nevertheless, the good thing about dealing with teen fashion is that most teenagers would want to wear wardrobe based on what they really want and not so much of what is popular.
