the art of collaboration

If I am being honest, I am a bit of a "creative lone wolf"- I prefer to make art by myself and I typically don't collaborate or pull others into my process. But collaborating with my husband Andy has really opened my eyes to how wonderful it is to come together with another artist and make something really special. We are so different in a million ways (some of those ways create a lot of challenges in our marriage) but somehow when we make art together our differences are the best part of the process. If you haven't tried collaborating with another artist I want to encourage you to give it a try at least once! It is a wonderful way to push yourself in new and different ways.

This is so beautiful! Everything about it is wonderful. I think I know what you mean about collaborating--there's something different and refreshing about working with (or even just alongside!) other artists.

Since my art is clothing design, it's so much fun to collaborate outfits with other designers. Your work is just BEAUTIFUL!!

Really very beautiful. I think it's my favourite of your collaboration pieces. I think the kind of artist you are is what allows you to be such a good teacher too. Your approach has made a world of difference to me.

I love this, it is beautiful. My husband paints landscapes and I keep threatening to use one for a background of a mixed media collage. You have inspired me with your collaboration, as well as all of your posts. Thanks for sharing your art and life with us.

This is stunning! My husband and I are both creative types and we find ways to collaborate. It isn't always easy to collaborate with a spouse, but when it works, it is so meaningful. Just yesterday we collaborated on a beautiful dream catcher. We wove our dreams together into this project. You and your husband are so very talented. I love how your contrasting styles come together beautifully!

I also have those little round paints and the colours are great. Ideal for travelling. I wish I could draw faces like that, it looks like a photograph .
