Favorite part of summer is being in the water with the kids! Here in Wisconsin our swimming days are numbered so we have to live it up when we have the chance!
I live in NYC so my favorite part of summer is exploring the city. New York has such beautiful architecture and there's always something going on whether it's a festival or street performance.I belong to a sketch group meetup and we go around the city and draw. It feels great to draw outside with the sounds of the city.
Summer afternoon's with birds chirping around and finding shade under trees near water puddles. i'm from India and have cuckoos, parrots, peacocks to name a few around my garden. I wish to be in your class.

What a nice thing to do. Even tho I can't win because as we have found out I can't figure out how to access your classes, my favorite thing in summer is having all the birds come back. It is almost like having people or neighbors again. We are lucky to have over 30 kinds of birds around here!
I am normally a night owl, but our last week has been packed with daytime adventures and activities and I have been heading to bed earlier than usual. The interesting thing about that is I have consequently been rising just before the sun does and I am finding I treasure those early morning moments on my deck as the day begins to glow.
By far my favourite part of summer is the sun - there is nothing quite like feeling the warmth of the sun on your face. And I am writing this is the middle of winter (I so miss summer!) Plus this coming summer is particularly exciting - my partner and I are expecting our first child so it's going to be the best summer ever! <3
My favourite parts of summer are ice coffee, iced chai, trying to capture the wonderful moments I have with my two and a half month old daughter and my hubby so I can look back and the memories of this special time in our lives.
Going to the splash pad and going to get ice cream treats :)
Well I already paid for the class, but I am giving it a try anyway :) My favorite part of summer are the evenings when it cools down and I can enjoy the nice view from my balcony and take walks in the green area I live in :)
This sounds silly but my favourite thing about summer is that sense of possibility... knowing that there are less things I have to get done (ie assignments and exams) over the summer leaves me feeling incredibly free.
And Caffe Latte ice cream is a very close second!

Ahhh, summer....The heat, blue skies, birds singing, flowers growing, the lake at sunset....and, I don't have to shovel sunshine. The longer days give me so much more time for every kind of possibility, including time to play in a sketchbook class. Ontario, Canada is best in summer!

Best part of summer for me is going camping in our little Airstream, which is full of my art supplies, sewing machine, and favorite books for inspiration!
Good idea for this giveaway. For me the best part of summer is when my husband & I go to Prince Edward Island in vacations. We are near the beach in a cottage. The sound of the waves is for me very relaxing.
For me the part I love about summer is the relaxed schedule. It just seems "ok" to sleep in later, play games with kids, and relax in the sun. I love the "low pressure" of it all.
Showers! Summer showers... when you can see a little bit of blue skies, the sun is promising to come back, but the clouds aren't done yet. It falls softly, abundantly, but so quietly that even my furdaughter loves it. We live in Florida where we get lots of storms, so showers have become so special to me.

My favorite part of summer is Beach Week--not the spring break kind of beach week, but ours is a family/friend reunion. We have been doing this for about a dozen years now on the Florida Gulf Coast. We have 3 generations of family and friends that come together, and it is the highlight of our year, not just our summer. There is nothing more important than family! And these friends ARE our family!
Your artwork is an inspiration to me. My fav part of summer is spending it with muygrandson who just turned 1. He is full of energy and adventure. And lots of fun. I am starting to show him art.

My favorite part of summer is when the tourists go home and my hubby and I go for a swim in the beautiful American River and there is not a soul around.
I love to sit outside and watch the birds and other animals that come thru my yard. I also love to walk with my dog and explore just to see things and discover. The quiet discovery is my favorite!
so many lovely things about summer, but definitely the summer sea and all its creatures, the relaxed days, outdoor bbqs, sicilian breakfast (yes we get to eat ice cream for breakfast in sicily!) and the fresh catches my husband and son bring home from their fishing excursions.

We live in Texas where it gets over 100 degrees but that is ok, it feels good to us. the flowers and grass are at their best and the big fluffy clouds that you can find shapes in. My favourite part of summer is the warm weather and long days. I live in Northern Canada so we have daylight here until 11 or midnight during the summer months. Favourite thing about summer - a tall glass of Elderflower cordial topped with sparkling water, ice, a slice of lemon and a sprig of mint! Strawberries and raspberries with vanilla bean ice cream. Going out of the house without a coat or scarf on! (I live in the UK!)

My favorite part of summer is now that my son is school age that he is home with me all day...I miss him when he is at school and he is my buddy. He paints, draws and sews with me, loves to swim and go on bike rides and walks...he is only 6 so I know the days when I am his favorite pal are slipping by so this summer I am loving every minute of it! What I love best about summer is when at the very beginning of it I can see the sun spread its light at the back corner of my garden in the middle of the morning; then I know summer is here. Here in the Netherlands we have daylight up to 10 in the evening. Love it! After a hot day we water the garden and I love how you can then smell nature and feel the earth cooling off.

So picking one favorite thing is tough. But, at the top of the tops is that my two sons are out of school for an extended amount of time. The best bit about your summer is that it happens in the middle of my winter! i look at your blog from across the planet, across the seasons and revel in anticipation of when MY summer comes around ...and while my summer sizzles, I cool down by seeing what you get up to in winter! West coast rules on my island too!
The best part about summer is the smell of all the flowers in the night air and being able to wear shorts and a tank top until midnight outside and still feel warm! AND the afternoons so hot that you are forced to take a siesta. Of course I am dreaming of the summers I spent in Italy, but those are memories that come back to me every summer when it gets hot and humid and everyone sits around drinking white wine and no one eats dinner until the sun goes down. Lots of good times and inspiration for sketching!

Yay! I grew up hating summer (in Phoenix) but now that I'm living on the coast I greatly appreciate the sun. Three favorites: Making huge salads. Swimming in the ocean. Slowing down.
For me, summer is absolutely speckled with white ruffled dresses and the hope of fireflies. Of course this is to be accompanied by an unremitting stack of books and a fairly large handful of chocolate chips, to be enjoyed in either a hammock or an air-conditioned library, because sadly chocolate chips aren't exactly on friendly terms with blistering temperatures. In the library, one can take one's time; in the hammock, one has to eat her chocolate chips with a certain level of risk, especially considering the white dress factor.
My favorite part of summer is sitting on the back porch just after sunset with my family watching the fireflies aka lightning bugs! Peaceful, quiet, magical time with the ones I love. Mary Werner

I absolutely love your blog! It is a daily inspiration for my life and my art! My favorite part of summer is visiting my hometown of Boyne City, Michigan. My entire family lives there and I am currently stationed in boring Lansing, Michigan, finishing school and working full-time. I have a trip planned for August to travel to Munising and Pictured Rocks in the Upper Peninsula to go camping and hiking. It is a beautiful place and I recommend it to anyone who has never been, even looking at pictures is a site The Pictured Rocks and countless waterfalls take your breath away! My absolutely favorite part of summer is the journey to the Oregon Coast to cozy up in an old quilt and sketch gardens and the surf to my heart's content while I breathe in the salt air and constant calling of the ocean waves. There is some sort of peace about being there. In between the call of my children saying, "Caaaaan we go to the taffy store yet?"

I just reduced my work hours to part time, leaving me with more beautiful, very much needed free time than I've had in years -- and a seriously limited budget! I'm trying to be very thankful for it and respectful of its limits (Less is more, right!). Dah! I forgot to tell you my favorite part of summer! This summer it's having time, for the first time in a long time, to notice summer. To sit on my big wooden swing and watch the birds and bugs and summer storms roll through. It's taking time to simply see, hear, smell, feel and journal about all that summer is. Thank you!
This might be too late and I'm busy getting ready for my brothers wedding but my heart has been bursting with thankfulness for my summer holidays as an art teacher. I live half way around the world with my husband in India and these 4 weeks in Iowa is the only time I've had with my parents and (quickly maturing) younger brother and sister since my own wedding last July. Blessed to have this great weather, food, and time to share with my family.....

My favorite part of summer is our county fair. It's small enough that you can enjoy it all, and since my kids and I do 4H, we get in free the whole week. The kids love the rides- you can buy a 5 hour pass for $12, concerts and programs in the arena are free- rough truck, demolition derby, tractor pulls, it's all fun to watch. And best of all? The sugar waffles!

My favorite part of summer is Beach Week--not the spring break kind of beach week, but ours is a family/friend reunion. We have been doing this for about a dozen years now on the Florida Gulf Coast. We have 3 generations of family and friends that come together, and it is the highlight of our year, not just our summer. There is nothing more important than family! And these friends ARE our family!
Your artwork is an inspiration to me. My fav part of summer is spending it with muygrandson who just turned 1. He is full of energy and adventure. And lots of fun. I am starting to show him art.
My favorite part of summer is kayaking while watching the sun set on Lake Michigan. There is something about the warm night air, the lapping water and being with nature for those few minutes. Hope you are getting some good beach time in Seaside.

I recently came across you blog and I too have a wee girl. Close to the same age as your daughter. Siri is 21mos as of the 15th of July. I find that she inspires me everyday. My favorite part of summer is when the tourists go home and my hubby and I go for a swim in the beautiful American River and there is not a soul around.
My favorite pasttime in summer is seeing all the flowers bloom in my garden and eating out of doors!
I love to sit outside and watch the birds and other animals that come thru my yard. I also love to walk with my dog and explore just to see things and discover. The quiet discovery is my favorite!
so many lovely things about summer, but definitely the summer sea and all its creatures, the relaxed days, outdoor bbqs, sicilian breakfast (yes we get to eat ice cream for breakfast in sicily!) and the fresh catches my husband and son bring home from their fishing excursions.
My favorite part of summer is daylight savings.It doesn't get dark here in Melbourne, Australia until 9.30 pm and there's so much to do in the warmth of the evening such as relaxing on the beach :)
Oh my favorite part of summer has got to be the warmth. We live in Texas where it gets over 100 degrees but that is ok, it feels good to us. the flowers and grass are at their best and the big fluffy clouds that you can find shapes in.

My favourite part of summer is the warm weather and long days. I live in Northern Canada so we have daylight here until 11 or midnight during the summer months. Hello, living in Paris, my favorite part of the summer is walking in the sand of the Atlantic Ocean beaches, in the South West of France, the smell of BBQ, and dinners in terrace, these meaning holidays for me !
My favorite part of summer is our relaxed schedule--no homework or school activities. It gives us more time for family fun--like going to movies and going on bike rides. We have time to re-connect!

My favorite part of summer is now that my son is school age that he is home with me all day...I miss him when he is at school and he is my buddy. He paints, draws and sews with me, loves to swim and go on bike rides and walks...he is only 6 so I know the days when I am his favorite pal are slipping by so this summer I am loving every minute of it!

Here in the Netherlands we have daylight up to 10 in the evening. Love it! After a hot day we water the garden and I love how you can then smell nature and feel the earth cooling off.

So picking one favorite thing is tough. But, at the top of the tops is that my two sons are out of school for an extended amount of time. I love being with them, having sushi lunch, hitting the beach, seeing movies together. It is such a special time while they are this age. The best bit about your summer is that it happens in the middle of my winter! i look at your blog from across the planet, across the seasons and revel in anticipation of when MY summer comes around ...and while my summer sizzles, I cool down by seeing what you get up to in winter! West coast rules on my island too!
The best part about summer is the smell of all the flowers in the night air and being able to wear shorts and a tank top until midnight outside and still feel warm! AND the afternoons so hot that you are forced to take a siesta. Of course I am dreaming of the summers I spent in Italy, but those are memories that come back to me every summer when it gets hot and humid and everyone sits around drinking white wine and no one eats dinner until the sun goes down. Lots of good times and inspiration for sketching!

Yay! I grew up hating summer (in Phoenix) but now that I'm living on the coast I greatly appreciate the sun. Three favorites: Making huge salads. Swimming in the ocean. Slowing down.
For me, summer is absolutely speckled with white ruffled dresses and the hope of fireflies. Of course this is to be accompanied by an unremitting stack of books and a fairly large handful of chocolate chips, to be enjoyed in either a hammock or an air-conditioned library, because sadly chocolate chips aren't exactly on friendly terms with blistering temperatures. In the library, one can take one's time; in the hammock, one has to eat her chocolate chips with a certain level of risk, especially considering the white dress factor.
Summertime evenings, as the day is ending with the arrival of dusk. It always takes me back to my childhood.
My favorite part of summer is sitting on the back porch just after sunset with my family watching the fireflies aka lightning bugs! Peaceful, quiet, magical time with the ones I love. Mary Werner

I absolutely love your blog! It is a daily inspiration for my life and my art! My favorite part of summer is visiting my hometown of Boyne City, Michigan. My entire family lives there and I am currently stationed in boring Lansing, Michigan, finishing school and working full-time. I have a trip planned for August to travel to Munising and Pictured Rocks in the Upper Peninsula to go camping and hiking. My absolutely favorite part of summer is the journey to the Oregon Coast to cozy up in an old quilt and sketch gardens and the surf to my heart's content while I breathe in the salt air and constant calling of the ocean waves. There is some sort of peace about being there. In between the call of my children saying, "Caaaaan we go to the taffy store yet?"

My favourite thing about the summer is the cottage. There is something so amazing about the healing power of being up north, the fresh air, the stars at night, the calming of the water. It's my happy place. It's where you can slow down and think and put things into perspective. It's also one of my favourite places to go to paint!

And here I was, just trying to figure out a way to squeeze my budget and take Summer Sketch! I just reduced my work hours to part time, leaving me with more beautiful, very much needed free time than I've had in years -- and a seriously limited budget! I'm trying to be very thankful for it and respectful of its limits (Less is more, right!). Dah! I forgot to tell you my favorite part of summer! This summer it's having time, for the first time in a long time, to notice summer. To sit on my big wooden swing and watch the birds and bugs and summer storms roll through. It's taking time to simply see, hear, smell, feel and journal about all that summer is. Thank you!
This might be too late and I'm busy getting ready for my brothers wedding but my heart has been bursting with thankfulness for my summer holidays as an art teacher. I live half way around the world with my husband in India and these 4 weeks in Iowa is the only time I've had with my parents and (quickly maturing) younger brother and sister since my own wedding last July. Blessed to have this great weather, food, and time to share with my family.....

My fave part of summer is being with my sisters. Checking out the best thrift stores in town, to coming home for a moviethon of Anne of Green Gables or North and South with popcorn and pickles. Luv it!

My favorite part of summer is our county fair. It's small enough that you can enjoy it all, and since my kids and I do 4H, we get in free the whole week. The kids love the rides- you can buy a 5 hour pass for $12, concerts and programs in the arena are free- rough truck, demolition derby, tractor pulls, it's all fun to watch. And best of all? The sugar waffles!
