We picked blackberries when I was growing up and the thing I remember most is my mother warning us to watch out for snakes...I could hardly pick for looking!
One of my best childhood memories from growing up in the Northwest was picking wild blackberries from the bush across the road and then eating the pies my mom would make. Thanks for reminding me!!
Yum!!! A family favorite of ours. We put a layer of cream cheese in a baked pie shell and then pour thickened berries over that. Have no idea where the recipe came from-but it is by far my favorite pie! Beautiful berries.
Ok, so I've been following your adventures. You moved back to OREGON, we moved back to So. Cal...You are really making me miss the blackberries!! They use to surround our acre of land. There were so many I could remove all the seeds for jam...wow, seedless jam, what I would give for a jar.lol
May is our blackberry season here in Florida. I have to go out early in the morning to harvest the day's ripe crop because my dogs discovered that I was ppicking them and started picking them, too. Why doesn't their tongues get full of the prickers like my fingers do???
Blackberry picking is a great family activity. I have some ready to make a Blackberry and Apple crumble tomorrow to go with some homemade ice cream. Yum Yum. xx
