I usually sketch jewelry and sculpture designs that are complex and abstracted. But I depend heavily on color and look to your class to help me find the most efficient way of adding color to my sketchbook! You always make the most wonderful patterns in both line and color.

i am up to lesson 4 on your first sketchbook, and am LOVING it! i used to draw scenery but i want to draw flowers, i just don't do it very well. thanks for getting me back into watercoloring.
Well, hmm. Trees seem to make a regular appearance in my sketches (I love the lines of the branches), but I also do quite a bit of swirls and doodles and dots and textures and the like. And I love sketching with black ink on plain, white paper. :)
My favorite thing to sketch are leaves. I doodle them without even thinking and before I know it, my page is filled with leaves!

My favorite things to sketch are the small graces that make up our daily lives: books my boys are reading, a coffee table arrangement, my breakfast plate of homemade banana bread and the hot chocolate in a mug my son gave to me for Christmas.
All those tiny snippets of life I'm likely to forget if I don't chronicle them in something much more meaningful than a scrapbook: my journal is the map of my days and what is meaningful to me.

I love to sketch trees when they are bare of their leaves. There is such beauty in the formation of branches and the texture of the bark.
I like to go outside, sit down and watercolor journal what I see. After sitting there for an hour I'm always amazed at how much brighter, more beautiful the world is. It really deepens my experience of what I'm seeing.

Wow! It looks to be a fairly common theme but I love sketching flowers and faces.
I wish I could create beautiful "doodles" but I can't... I really wish I had the talent to just let my hand work freely, to just make shapes and shade as it likes, but it seems as though I can only translate what I see onto paper. A lack of imagination perhaps?

I can't really answer your question; all I can say is that watching your blog over the last couple of months has inspired me to get out the watercolours I was given 12 years ago that I have never touched, to start playing around with the colours and effects...and I'd love to learn more. I loved the first Sketchbook Delight class! My favorite thing to paint are the trees on Driftwood Beach on Jekyll Island, GA. The maritime forest is falling down due to erosion and the trees are huge! They are laying on their sides and their root structures are about 10 feet tall. Its amazing.
