Ok friends, for the last year you have been asking and I finally made it happen- a class completely dedicated to sketching. By now you probably know that drawing/sketching is something that I am passionate about and I think every creative person- no matter the medium- MUST learn and work at consistently.
The most basic you can get is to draw and it is the simplest (cheapest) and most pure process you can incorporate into your daily creative routine. For some reason it has always reminded me of running- you can take it anywhere, it is free, simple, requires lots of discipline, doesn't always feel good and the more time you spend doing it the better you get.
Drawing/sketching has been with me my whole life, it has been a faithful companion that has challenged, comforted and brought me joy. But with the onslaught of technology, distraction that comes with life and the discipline that it takes, often it is difficult to be consistent. Now is your chance to carve out some time, learn the basics and discover the joy and delight of sketching! For a peek inside my own sketchbook click here
In addition to launching registration for the class today I am giving away 3 free slots- scroll all the way down for info :)
Its time to get back to basics! Time to enjoy the simplicity, the growth and the delight that comes from drawing and sketching. This online class will introduce you to keeping a sketchbook, finding the right tools for your process, learn how to sketch and draw with a variety of simple techniques, easy exercises that will help you to find your own unique sketching style, interviews and advice from a variety of artists who love to sketch, ways to find inspiration out in the world (and off the computer), realistic ways to carve out time to exercise your sketching muscle and so much more.

please note- I have just updated my website so make sure to refresh your browser.
In addition to launching registration today, I am also giving away three FREE spots in the class!

I would LOVE to take your class! I think my favorite thing to draw will vary from time to time, but I think that Nature will always be on the top! I think that it is so exciting to see the world around you in a totally different way...

I love to sketch - I have many sketchbooks filled with random things. I find I often sketch mermaids, intricate swirls, landscapes and patterns/ideas for other crafts I'm working on. (I design knitting patterns, so often there are sweaters and hats thrown into the mermaids...)

Really hoping i get picked!!! i like to sketch trees, and also doodle random shapes, things like stars and also graffiti-ized words. :-D
OMG I so want to take this online class but probably can't unless I get one of the free spots! I love your color, your drawings....everything! The contrast of the black with the color is what captivates me the most.
I'm just a beginner but I love to sketch/paint flowers!

I would love the chance for this class! I definitely need motivated to sketch daily! I usually end up drawing flowers and cartoon characters.
Trees, leaves, representing family mostly - I think.
Ooh, this sounds fantastic! I love to sketch flowers.
What an awesome idea for a class! I need some help! I usually sketch nature-y things like trees and birds.
i have been looking at your classes, i wish you showed more detail about your classes. i love to sketch faces i wish i knew how to shade better. thanks for the chanceto win. jude
favourite things to sketch are from nature and my own photographs
I love your pages! What discipline. I want to hang out with you at a museum for an afternoon of sketching. I never know how to start. I have a pile of malnourished sketchbooks begging for some attention. Lately I've been sketching faces. In search of guidance...help:0)
My favourite subject to sketch is museum exhibits- such as those at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Wonderful. Would love to do your course.
Alisa, my favourite thing to draw are the things I see in front o me - be they coffee, buuildings, trees, parks....whatever. I adore your skecthbooks!
Oh my o.Ô
you have pretty many comments already, But I'll try anyway ^^
I love love love your blog and your ideas, your sketches are lovely and I love the way you color them <3
I tend to mostly sketch people and clothes/ ideas for projects I like to sew or craft, thus my sketchbook is rather technical and not as pretty to look at as yours ^^
it is helpfull, sure, but I'd like to have more fun with it, than just jotting down ideas.
Keep up the great work!
Cheers,
Julia
Oh Alisa your sketchbooks are amazing and I'd love to do this class. I love sketching momentos. Things that remind me of my family like my dad's muddy boots that he wears on the farm or my mum's camio broach. When my mum died at an early age I realised how much meaning and memories such things could trigger and it was then I started sketching them and looking beyond the object.
What a great idea. I always admire your sketchbook.
I love to sketch faces when I have the time but I'm sadly not very good at it!
Winning a spot in this class would be amazing, I have been absolutely in love with your sketches since I first discovered your blog and to learn from you would be a dream.
I wouldn't call what I do sketching, it's more like doodling and it tends to be girls, animals and funny little creatures. I would love to learn how to really sketch though but haven't had the opportunity to take a class before.
Fingers crossed!

I love to sketch scenes from daily life and special trips into my (freshly started) journal.
But obviously I still have to learn a lot - as I'm working in an technical job my sketches are dominated by rectangles and strict lines more than natural forms... but I'm trying...
I like drawing girls-manga style then painting them in with watercolours. I also like drawing my dog or birds.
I hope I'm not too late to enter
how fun. i am sketching objects currently, but it is something i certainly need more practice doing.
Not sure if I'm posting in time but that's okay. I would love to learn to draw/sketch better than I do. I tend to see the blank page and my mind goes blank as well. The one thing I do like to draw/sketch though are flowers, and other natural things. Have a great week:)
I L-O-V-E your classes!!!! I love sketching and doodling most anything, however my things usually don't turn out like I want (sigh). I hope I win such an awesome opportunity!!! This is better than lottery night!!!
Holy guacamole, I would love to take one of your classes! This would be great for breaking in my 2011 sketchbook!!
Thanks for the chance to win :)
When I was a kid I loved to draw faces, especially lips.
And lots of doodles, words, songs.
I should start drawing again...
OMG! Finally! I was one who requested you do a class like this...you've made me SO happy and excited! Can't wait until it starts!!! BIG hugs!
I'm brand new to art journaling and would love to win this class. What a generous giveaway! I love sketching things from nature; flowers, leaves, acorns, etc.
Alisa, I registered last week for the class and haven't heard anything yet. Could someone please contact me? I want to be certain that it was received. Sincerely, Ami
I am wrapping up my sketchbook project and this sounds like the perfect thing to keep my momentum going. Fingers Crossed. :) I love sketching people, kids, animals, nature, and the world around me. :)
In my view one and all should browse on this.
