When I was pregnant (which is a LONG time ago now - my oldest is 21, youngest is 17) - the two things I hated most about being pregnant were unsolicited stories and unsolicited touching - which were greatly exceeded by unsolicited touching of MY BABY by STRANGERS once they were born.
However, I loved, loved, loved being pregnant and loved being a new mom.
You look fantastic! I am excited for you. And you can tell them to stuff the "advanced maternal age". I am 40 and one week behind you. So you can pin that one on me and take it off yourself. Congratulations!
you.look.gorgeous. I had our 5th child at 42 years old and I can relate to the 'advanced maternal age' tag. As if I didn't already know how old I was, she needed to tell me on every visit. thank you doc.
So happy for you Alisa! We are enjoying our beautiful baby boy grandson...so excited for you at what you will be feeling very soon! You are beautiful, and remember...WE WOMEN ARE STRONG...we can handle TONZ! Ignore all the horror stories...and know yours will be a wonderful one!!
you are amazing! I was 36 when I had my daughter. truly a wonderful experience from pregnancy, to birth, to watching her grow up into the young woman she is today. Enjoy your time, Alisa.
1) Laughing out loud at the unsolicited advice fact 2) People still look at me like I'm nuts when I tell them I have a 28 yr old and a 10 yr old (Had her at 40)...I happen to think it's pretty awesome! 3) Most important, from what I've read, how blessed your little girl is to come into this world with parents who love each other so much!
I wanted the unsolicited touching of my belly from strangers to stop when I was pregnant. My friend encouraged me to buy these incredibly bright PINK shoes. Everyone just looked directly at my shoes. 'What CUUUUTE shoes!" and forgot all about my belly. I have seen some amazing shoes you have made...just make them bright and fun and you might get the eyes looking somewhere else other than that tempting belly. Like everyone else said...You look beautiful and you're going to make a great mom! Happy day!
Great Pictures! I have similar pregnancies to yours. My body is also good at "hiding" babies and I've never had any cravings. My baby girl #4 is due next week! Thanks for being an inspiration to me!
I missed out on gratuitous cravings. I would stand in the chocolate aisle and think 'ok cravings, take me now!' and then I would think, 'gee I could really go some fruit. In fact, I'd kill for a nectarine right now.'
I was convinced I was giving birth to the Dalai Lama. Ten years later when baby/big girl announced she was becoming a vegetarian I wasn't really surprised!
I'm not sure why people think normal social boundaries do not apply with pregnant women. Also not sure why people feel the need to try and 'scare' others with their 'horrible' experiences. Let me just say, I have a 2 year old and a 2 month old. I had them both naturally. And I LOVED it. Labor and delivery is the most incredible experience I have ever had. It is not scary. It's amazing. There are so many wonderful emotions and it is such a charged environment. I seriously cannot put into words how awesome it is. I guess that is my unsolicited advice. I am excited for you! You look incredible!
OLD!!!!!!!!!!! ? NO way!!! I was almost 36 with my first and 3 weeks shy of my 40th with my second! Both boys! LOVIN' EVERY MINUTE OF IT ALL!!
Btw, you are so incredibly creative and out there with your creations! I ADORE them! They make me happy! I don't know that I've ever commented publicly, but oh the things I've said in my head! Your blog photos are so inspiring to me! Thank you!
OK. Onto the public baby/pregnant invasiveness from strangers! YEP, it happens! Wait until someone starts rubbing your belly at the grocery check out!
In the end, it's all good though and those memories become fodder for family/dinner party comedy nights!!!
This is such a special time for you and your husband. You look radiant! My daughter has a girl and a boy and has made me the luckiest granny in the world. I bet your mum can't wait!
Thank you for sharing your work on your blog. I am enjoying your last class tremendously.
Ahhh - so many memories...I always flourished when I was pregnant and never felt more healthy -a blessed time. You look gorgeous! This little girl is so loved already :)
You look radiant! I loved being pregnant. (If my memory serves me correctly - my kids are about your age!) But really, just smile beautifully at all the advice-givers and ignore them. Every journey is personal. Enjoy!
Try to ignore the horror stories and don't let anyone scare you. Not sure why some people think that's ok. Just remember to breathe :) You look amazing! Enjoy the little/big kicks and your last few weeks of being prego! I LOVE your armful of bracelets! Did you make those too? Beautiful!
You are one beautiful Momma-to-be! I've had five kids and never had cravings or morning sickness with any of them. I LOVED being pregnant! Labour is the most amazing experience of your life and any pain is fast forgotten when that beautiful, little baby is placed in your arms.
Btw, I was 39 when I had my last baby and, thankfully, never had to deal with the 'mature age' crap tho. :)
Instead of a christening mug, I am sure it will be pencils and brushes...lucky little girl. Your joy is so contagious thankyou for sharing. I would offer to be a surrogate granny and baby-sit, bit far from Australia for an overnighter tho.
You are looking FABULOUS! and No Way should 36 be referred to as an 'advanced maternal age'. I had my first at 32 (who also moved a lot in the womb, no matter what I was doing, and proved to be a VERY active child and still is) and my third at 42. Your little girl is going to be much loved & is blessed to have the two of you as parents. Best wishes. Ux
so exciting. it has been really fun to see you and baby each week. looking forward to seeing her when she arrives. keep up the good work mama. you're doing great. p.s. thanks for sharing.
You look amazing and tell doc to shut up with the old lady comments. My BFF is 48 and has twin 2year olds, as well as 10 other kids but you get my meaning. Can't wait to see baby!!!
Such a lovely, beautiful time in life. I love these posts they always make me smile and fondly remember my own pregnancy's. Thanks for that. And yes, you continue to look beautiful and I can relate to many of your facts. : ) Enjoy this last bit of time as a couple and your alone time 'cuz your world is gonna get turned every which way very soon. : )
and such a pretty little bump it is!!! sounds like you are having the best pregnancy ever!!! lucky girl, enjoy it bc it goes so very fast!
kinda related: i saw a post on peopleofwalmart.com where a mom had a sign hanging from the handle of her babys car seat that said: please dont touch the baby!!! lol runs along the same lines as weird stories from strangers and people wanting to touch your belly!!!
I remember having all of those feelings too! Very funny! I always hated those horror stories and everyone touching me. I remember walking out of a store at 9 months pregnant and a man laughing at me and saying " Wattle, Wattle". Some nerve! You look adorable and vibrant! Best wishes to you, baby and hubby.
Enjoy every minute! My only advice. You look fabulous! Radiating happiness and life. I think people tell their stories and touch pregnant women to remember when they were giving life. It is such an incredible experience. Something so creative - a miracle. I am sending out blessings to your family! I can't wait for you to introduce us to your little one. It won't be long now.
I ws 40 when I had my daughter ( Annie is now a very lovely 13 year old). Because of some health problems, I ws put in the hospital at 29 weeks. The doctor referred to me as "The oldest living mother in captivity". I told him I would slug him as soon as I felt better. Goos luck with your baboo- you look fabulous!
Oh yes, I remember the ADVANCED MATERNAL AGE comments from doctor too. I had one at a baby at 35 and 36. And you are young and beautiful! So happy for you guys!!
I never had children myself, but my friends ALL complained of #2 on your list AND how complete strangers would come up and run their pregnant bellies. So you are not alone in being tired of it all. You look wonderful and happy and blessed. :-)
You look GREAT!!! I had my Baby on March and I'm 37 so I know what you are talking about. Thankfully, I had a very healthy and beautiful Baby Boy. Congratulations!!!
