Hmm. Favorite part of summer USED to be no school...but now I think it's all the delicious summer fruits. We just picked some apricots and cherries from the backyard yesterday and I'll make them into a crisp and some jam today. Yummy :)
my favourite part of summer? well, as I come to the end of my summer break I have enjoyed just sitting under the plum tree and thinking about things. I had not planned anything for my summer break - I just wanted to enjoy the here and now and it has been amazing. I created and carved some small figures, dozed in the sunshine, and just plain relaxed.

my fav part of summer? easy- SUNSHINE!!!!! we love to be outside- we are in north central arkansas. we go camping, fishing, to the river, hiking, to the lake, on the boat, to the creeks. we love being outside!!!

I would love to win this. My favorite thing about summer is the heat. Minnesota winters are so long and cold, that I take in the heat, beaches, rocks and flowers all summer.
My favorite part of summer is having the kids home! As crazy as it sounds I LOVE IT. We are a large family and always so busy during the school year that I enjoy being able to take them to the beach and park ..and just stay up late talking outside by the fire pit.
I love being able to sleep in a little later, longer days, celebrating the birthdays of all the women in my family (mom, daughter, sister, and me), slowing down and spending time with my kids.

Hello Alissa, Thanks for the opportunity to win one of your great classes. I recently finished your watercolor class and learned so much! My favorite part of summer is my family's trip to Lake Almanor which is in northern California. This year we celebrated the 4th of July with over 29 family members! It was a beautiful day of sun, boating and jumping off the dock into the freezing cold water followed by a meal of barbequed hamburgers and hot dogs. We all had such a good time together.
Summer is just a blast! The sun beating on me face, the green world growing around me:-) . It's just a magical time. I love watching things grow that would have to be my favorite part about summer.there nothing like watching your own garden transform into something magical.

My favorite part of summer is traveling to the mountains where it's cool enough to sit outside. Last year I practiced sketching by the river using the techniques I learned in Sketchbook Delight.

My most absolute favorite part of summer is the times I am able to steal away to the Oregon Coast. They seem all too few and far between, but I love to cozy up in a big quilt, breathe deep the salt air, and work in my art journal. It has been a calming force to the core of my inmost being all these years (with my children in the background calling out, Moooooommmmm! can we go to the taffy store yet? They are 18 and 20 now, and some things, thankfully never change)

Best parts about the summer for us is a flourishing garden, the whizzing hummingbirds that visit and laying out in the grass at night looking at the stars :)

Summer for my little family is lots of short trips to our cabin on a lake. Favorite things to do there are swimming, walks in the woods, camp fires with roasting marshmallows!

My favorite part of summer would be to go to my grand parents summer house in Yachats, Oregon, cross highway 101, pass the blueberry patches, skip over the driftwood and sit with my sketchpad and water colors until the sun went down.
Ahhhh, summer . . . when everything is fresh and new. I love the beach, the whole scene - the sound of the waves, the smell of the ocean breeze, the seashells that wash up with the tides, the sea oats and the dunes. I love the fresh foods of summer, all light and colorful. I enjoy picking wild blackberries and blueberries from our own bushes, warmed by the sun. I love the outdoors concerts, the summer festivities, the beautiful sultry evenings. Reading lots of books, walking about in comfy sandals, seeing all the flowers in bloom, enjoying the shade of huge old trees, drinking tea with friends . . . As the warm evenings turn to nightfall, the awesome beauty of the stars in our universe becomes more apparent, and the whippoorwill sings its way through the woods. (If I am sewing in my studio late at night, it will actually come and sit in the old tree just beyond the roofline and "sing" to me while I play. Awesome!) Summer is also a time to explore, to learn new things while there is a bit more time for leisure. It is a time for renewing one's spirit in preparation for all that is to come the rest of the year.
My favorite part of summer is late in the season when the nights stay warm. I live in the Pacific Northwest and sometimes we only get a couple nights a year without a chill in the air. On those night I love standing outside breathing deeply reveling in the warmth of summer when everything in the world feels perfect.

I love summer because of the family reunions that I get to have with my family. The kids playing and swimming, the laughter and fun that everyone is having. In India, our summer runs from March - May. The highlight of the season is definetly the bounty of fruit that floods the market. Juicy yellow mangoes from every corner of the country, with so many different flavours, you wouldn't believe. Add to it fragrant jackfruit, luscious watermelon and many other varieties of fruit and veg and you can't stop thanking the earth for all that goodness!

I live in a town with a huge lake and my favorite part of summer is beach-combing! I love finding little pieces of driftwood, weathered bones, smooth glass and rocks. I could do this for hours and hours!

My favourite part of summer; the smell after a heave thunderstorm. We don't have al lot of them and the specific smell of heavy rain after a warm warm day... just lovely.
For me, the best of summer is getting up very early in the morning, go out in the fresh air and inhale the smells and the sounds of day waking up.... That gives me all the energy I need for the day !!
Summer! Aaaah...freedom! Freedom from the dark confines of house and layers of clothing.... fresh air on my skin, great light for painting, those wonderful rays full of Vitamin D. What's not to love?

Going to the beach with my two boys, ages 6 and 10. It's like being a kid all over again!

My most absolute favorite part of summer is the times I am able to steal away to the Oregon Coast. They seem all too few and far between, but I love to cozy up in a big quilt, breathe deep the salt air, and work in my art journal. It has been a calming force to the core of my inmost being all these years (with my children in the background calling out, Moooooommmmm! can we go to the taffy store yet? They are 18 and 20 now, and some things, thankfully never change)
Problem : I have to many favorite parts. Weaving what I want, doing what I want, when I want. But the best of the best : i have all the time for crafts as I have not enough Time the rest of the year. This year would be : drawing with colored pencils.

Summer for my little family is lots of short trips to our cabin on a lake. Favorite things to do there are swimming, walks in the woods, camp fires with roasting marshmallows!

My favorite part of summer would be to go to my grand parents summer house in Yachats, Oregon, cross highway 101, pass the blueberry patches, skip over the driftwood and sit with my sketchpad and water colors until the sun went down.

Ahhhh, summer . . . when everything is fresh and new. I love the beach, the whole scene - the sound of the waves, the smell of the ocean breeze, the seashells that wash up with the tides, the sea oats and the dunes. I love the fresh foods of summer, all light and colorful. I enjoy picking wild blackberries and blueberries from our own bushes, warmed by the sun. I love the outdoors concerts, the summer festivities, the beautiful sultry evenings. Reading lots of books, walking about in comfy sandals, seeing all the flowers in bloom, enjoying the shade of huge old trees, drinking tea with friends . . . As the warm evenings turn to nightfall, the awesome beauty of the stars in our universe becomes more apparent, and the whippoorwill sings its way through the woods. (If I am sewing in my studio late at night, it will actually come and sit in the old tree just beyond the roofline and "sing" to me while I play. Awesome!) Summer is also a time to explore, to learn new things while there is a bit more time for leisure. It is a time for renewing one's spirit in preparation for all that is to come the rest of the year.
I love the more laid back days, no routine. More time with family and sunshine!

My favorite part of summer is late in the season when the nights stay warm. I live in the Pacific Northwest and sometimes we only get a couple nights a year without a chill in the air. On those night I love standing outside breathing deeply reveling in the warmth of summer when everything in the world feels perfect.

I love summer because of the family reunions that I get to have with my family. The kids playing and swimming, the laughter and fun that everyone is having. I have 14 almost 16 grandkids(twins coming in Oct.) and love every min. that I spend with them. We always get together in the summer and have a great time. I would love to be in your class.

My favoirite part of the summer is when the crops are ready to be harvested. My parents have a small village house and we have lots of fruit trees, berry bushes and a vegetable garden there. I love to bed plants during the spring, but even more I love gathering all those wonderful fruits, berries, vegetables and herbs! :)

In India, our summer runs from March - May. The highlight of the season is definetly the bounty of fruit that floods the market. Juicy yellow mangoes from every corner of the country, with so many different flavours, you wouldn't believe. Add to it fragrant jackfruit, luscious watermelon and many other varieties of fruit and veg and you can't stop thanking the earth for all that goodness!
