NEW class Redefine Creativity and a GIVEAWAY!

My next online class Redefine Creativity goes live this Friday, August 22nd and to celebrate I am giving away 10 free spots to the class! Below you will find all the class information and to enter to win a free spot, scroll all the way to the bottom of the post for details!

While I had been making and selling art since I was a kid, my life changed back in 2005 when I decided to rip a canvas painting off the stretcher bars and sew it into a purse for a wedding I was attending. This moment completely changed the direction of my creative career. Suddenly I discovered a new process- painting canvas and remixing it into all kinds of fashion accessories.

rip painting from Alisa Burke on Vimeo.

Through this process, I learned very quickly that I loved finding new ways to redefine creativity (heck its the concept that my entire business is built on)! Everything from using alternative supplies - to making art on unique surfaces - to finding ways to break the rules, I have been on a non stop mission to get creative in unconventional ways.

This class is all about finding ways to redefine YOUR creativity. I will demonstrate all of my favorite techniques and concepts- from working with canvas to drawing and painting on unique objects to using simple supplies to make beautiful art to using mixed media to decorate your surroundings, I have created a totally unique class that walks the line between art and craft. Get ready for lots of techniques, art/craft projects and tons of inspiration to redefine your own creativity.

Redefine Creativity is structured into 5 lessons.

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT SUPPLIES: This class like all of my classes, does NOT have a required supply list. Instead I will be sharing the supplies that I like to use and then give you a variety of options and inspiration to use supplies that work best for your process and your budget.

To enter to win a spot in the class-

Leave me a comment
Tell me your favorite supply to work with
I'll randomly select 10 people and will announce the winners on Friday!
Good luck!

Right now, my favorite supplies are water-soluable pens and watercolors ... but that could easily change tomorrow. Or this afternoon. Really, it's whatever happens to be in my hand at the moment! Have a great day!

I like to dabble with various favorites...right now it probably is acrylic paints in muted shades with splashes of black on canvas. Thank you for this lovely giveaway chance!!

I've been following your blog for some time and I love your work! I get bored easily, so my favorite supplies change (drastically) every 6 months or so. Currently my favorite supplies are felt for felting, beads and floss.

What a great opportunity to learn with you, Alisa! I adore Micron pens. The draw so smoothly and I can paint right over them without bleeding.

Anonymous said...

Hi Alisa! I'm a paper girl - all weights, colors, textures, gimme gimme! = )

Anonymous said...

Favorite supply? That's like asking me to pick a favorite child- I love them all for amazing unique reasons! I suppose though, if I had to pick, I love paper and all you can do with it. Paint it, rip it, mold it, sew it, cut it, crush it, fold it, glue it... if I could choose one supply to have an unlimited amount of, it'd be paper. -Becca B.

My faves changes every week..this week watercolor pencils. I always remind myself what Andy Warhol said...

Don't think about making art, just get it done. Let everyone else decide if it's good or bad, whether they love it or hate it. While they are deciding, make more art.

Love your blogs..always wanted to take one of your classes but haven't done so. I enjoy your instagram pics! ♥

masha said...

I love, love, love your classes. It is such a treat for me now that I have found your blog and classes. Loving my black pens right now - inspired after Flower Power and would love to take another one of your classes. Thanks!

Robin Sanchez said...

I would LOVE to win one of your classes. I do so many other creative things and I have only ventured into the "canvas type stuff" once…..Im so lost with this media I don't even know where to start! I would love to learn more and start finding my own creativity for this medium. Right now I would have to say my favorite thing would be the fabric - because thats what I have experience with - but Im sure I would love pens and paint once I know how to use them like you ;)

My current favourites are coloured biros. My toddler showed me how fun they were as he gradually collected all of mine by pinching them off me when I was writing lists etc. and used them for drawing and colouring. Now we use them more than anything else (as they are super easy to just pick up and put down when the mood changes) and I have to pinch them back for doodling and designing.

this is the class for me! i have drooled over your classes for years and although the prices are more than reasonable, our budget has just not allowed for such an extravagance. i am so stagnant with my creativity and have lost the "create-every-day" mentality. i believe a spot in your class would be a huge inspiration/push i need to get started again. thx so much for the chance to win a spot!
my favorite supply to work with is acrylic paints because of their forgiving nature and fast dry time! im a very impatient girl. i have followed your blog for years and whether i win a spot or not, you are still my favorite/most inspiring mixed media artist.
p.s. i adore your family too. :)

My favorite supplies right now would be my ink pens and sketchbook that come with me everyday to work! I would love to win a spot in your class! It's exactly what I need right now, your work has inspired me to do more creative projects with my young toddler!

Right now I am enjoying playing with Dylusions ink sprays! Spraying on the ink pad, stamping and spraying on stencils. So fun!!

My favorite supply would probably have to be paint!

Only one supply!!! ... That would have to be Paper - all kinds of paper that can be mixed, reused and end up as "God-know-what"

Hi Alisa! Thank you for this opportunity to win a spot in your class. My favorite art supply, amongst many, is Golden's Acrylic Glazing Liquid. It makes working with acrylic paints a lot easier.

Can't wait for this class! Favorite (right now) is an inky pen.

My favorite supplies are old National Geographic magazines that I use for collage and decoupage. Flipping through them is a peek into other worlds as my project comes together. I hope I get to take your class. I love your DIY projects: often simple with a great sense of design.

Hi, I would love to win a free class. I have just started facilitating a series of 'art journaling for recovery'. I am a peer educator working with inspiring people who live with mental distress and or illness. I am new to Art journaling so am feeling my way as we start off. I like to show the group DIY art supplies and use recycled stuff as much as possible. Most of the group members live in poverty so it's very important that whatever techniques we learn are sustainable financially as well.
