a family collaboration

We've been at it again- collaborating as a family on a GIANT painting! This one measures 4 feet by 8 feet, it is made from luan mounted onto a frame. Luan is a 1/4 inch thick wood that is  really lightweight and the perfect material for a painting this size.

We've been working on this project for a couple weeks. Once it's done, it will be hanging in Maiden Astoria, a local gallery that I shared in my last post. As usual, we brought the video camera out to the garage and let it records hours of our work. It's really chaotic, super messy, sometimes challenging but always lots of fun. We have a few more days before it's completely finished but thought it would be fun to share a peek our process!

I LOVE this!!! Also I really love the pic with the coffee mug sitting on the canvas while you guys work on it. That, for some reason, seems to make it that much more real and inspired. You can feel the passion that you three put into it just by watching the hard work. I really feel like this is what's missing in the art world as of late. I want to WATCH artists create, and then feel that passion with them and then hang their art in my home and remember those feelings.
Great job! I truly love it.

OMG - there are no words literally - to express the beauty of this post and the video!!! Day one - Lucy - so precious in her skirt - gave me chills thinking about how she must feel so beautiful inside and out!!! Day two - looking at mom and Lucy - their hair all done up the same - once again gave me chills... Day? - Lucy and Dad - when she is watching him draw - and then she jumps on his back - to point to something she is observing... just priceless - the outcome is a piece of art that is hands down - drop dead - phenomenal !!!!! I notice how Lucy works her lines like that of an artist!!!!! How could she not be???? Thank you for sharing your most beautiful and precious family!!!!

Just SO inspired by you and your family Alisa! Keep those bright and wonderful creative ideas coming! You light up my days! My grandson is just a bit older than your little Lucy...so it's been a fun journey watching you all develop as a family as my daughter and her husband have...they've just added a beautiful little girl to their family! I'm in the middle of your blogging class, and have decided to change my own blog...JUST FYI...I've tried to subscribe to your daily blog posts, but they aren't coming to my e-mail...I'm wanting to take my blogs I follow off my own blog for marketing reasons, but won't do it until I know I can read yours every day in my own e-mail. Maybe you can check that link... Keep up the good work my blogger friend!

Watching these videos that you make is a real source of joy for me. I love the art that you make very much. The thing that stands out most for me, is the validation your little girl is getting from you both, every time she makes a mark on one of the paintings. It isn't pretend, or her own version, no it is there for all to see, and just as much a part of the work as the work of your husband and yourself. I think you are exceptional parents for that one thing alone. Many of us will remember being told not to mess things up, or to stay out of the way, from kitchens and cooking, sewing rooms and art work. I know I said that to my own daughter (shame on me!). Artists and creators like things to be just so, so this is no small thing and requires lots of patience and acceptance which is priceless. I really admire your parenting. Lucy is lovely but so are you!
