The recent events here in the United States have left me sad, disgusted, horrified, discouraged and downright angry that this is the world we live in. As I white woman married to a man of color, I know that we live in a world that is broken by hate, violence and systemic racism. I have no idea how I fit into change but I am starting by posting here that I am ready and willing contribute in any way that I can. I don't want to be silent, I don't want to be neutral and I DON'T want to spend one more day afraid to speak out. All I know is there is movement, power and change in UNITY and I want to be a part of that unity!
Download this coloring page. Print it out, color and take a moment to reflect on how you can be part of change.

Alisa, as someone who has silently followed you for years, even enrolled in several of your classes, I am glad to see you speak out. As a black woman married to a white man, the pain I am feeling I have not been able to fit into words. Our bi-racial daughter is married to a Latino man, and I fear for him and my grandson.
The one thing I've learned over the years of traveling around the world in the Air Force is that we are all the same, and most of us want the same things, a safe and peaceful world to raise our kids.
I am so sad at where we are today.
Its sad the world we live in and why colour hatred plays such a big part. I am black, my husband is white my children are both and we all live in peace!!!
You are amazing Alisa. Thank you for all you do and for your beautiful spirit.

Alisa, I have always admired your artwork but today I respect you immensely for the fine human that you are. God bless you and your family
love. and yes. xoxoxo and thankyou. xoxo
Thank you Alisa for your blog today and the download (so beautiful!) and your Facebook post. You sent out a spark of love to the world today, and we all need to do the same! Race, religion, ethnicity, etc., do not make us who we are. It is what we hold deep within our hearts, it is what we do to share that love with others, how we live our lives, what little things we can do to make our world better day by day. Your little family is a bright spot in my day and your blog is my favorite.
Well done, Alisa for finding a way to encourage change and enlightenment. This colouring page is just what we need. Things are very unsettled in the UK at the moment, following our decision to leave the European Union, and sadly some people are using this as an excuse for racism.
Thanks a lot Alisa ! It is beautiful and I will do it with my children :)
a beautiful way to remind us that WE can be the change in our own way! I passed it along to my friends on facebook! Thank you for such a beautiful reminder!
I, too, am broken hearted about the violence unleashed in America. I do agree with Bill Moyer that this violence has been going on for some time, over 100+ years, except that now we have cameras, documenting it. I am signing every petition I can find to shut down access to assault rifles and background checks for all gun purchases. I would like to see them banned again here in America. When we had a ban, gun deaths were a lot lower. There are many groups working on the issue of gun violence. Find one or more to support. I can't imagine being a mother of a child of color and worrying that a traffic stop could result in their death.
Thank you so much, and I stand with you to make a positive change as far as it depends on me.
Leaving a trail of beauty~

You rock!
hi Alisa, thank you so much for speaking out. And for sharing this with us. It's a quote I strive to live by daily. I also plan to do this art with my kids too. Best, Stephanie
Thank you, Alisa! I am sharing this on facebook with my Dallas homeschool group. It is hard to speak with kids about the horrific tragedy downtown last week. This coloring page is great reminder that we can't change the world unless we start with ourselves.
Hi Alisa, just popped into your blog for the 1st time I think and saw that lovely face of your little daughter.....I was touched by the pureness in her eyes.......than scrolled down and saw my favorite quote of Ghandi........and the beautiful drawing of you.
A while ago I saw a video on youtube about our DNA and it was so good to see that a lot of people who had prejudices and ideas about people from another race or color........in the end after examining their DNA.......it turns out they had also DNA from these same people and than they had to change their judgment and ideas...........we are all the same.....pure souls that are born in a body..........no matter what kind of body.......so I share your feeling and opinion....we can only start by doing the good thing ourselves and be the ripple in the water.......thanks for sharing your feelings and thoughts and keep on creating beautiful things! with a greeting from the heart, Miranda
Hi Alisa,
I was wondering if you would allow me to use this coloring page as the cover to my students bell ringer journals. I think this would be the perfect thing for them to see each morning when they come into school
