Hydrangeas appeal to my every sense. Oh, how I wish I could grow them but I live in the high desert where flowers are impossible to grow and the wild ones are few and far between. I envy you girls who live in more hospitable climates.

Thank you for the chance to win a free spot in your class. It's very difficult to choose just one flower, but I love hydrangeas and fuchsias (aka princess earrings... of course I've used them frequently) since I was a child, as they were the two types flowers my grandmother had the most in her backyard... they always bring me happy memories. However, I didn't know there was such flower as peony, because I had never seen those in my country (Portugal). I know now that it is possible to find them in good (usually meaning expensive) florists for a brief period of time in the year. It is an extremely beautiful flower and I love it, although I'd never felt one in my hands. You take extraordinary photos of those flowers, and flowers in general... and photos in general :), that makes me wish to have a backyard and live in the countryside (in fact I wish it for a long time :)).

molly meng said...

Gah! Picking a favorite flower is liking picking a favorite friend! Really, almost impossible! But, since it IS flowers and not friends, I would have to say HOLLYHOCKS (because my grandmother grew them in her garden and today I have a neighbor that grows them each year) or HYDRANGEAS (because how can you not love a bloomy, downy, multi-colored beauty that even dries well, too?!)

I love your paintings! Thanks for the opportunity!

susan fuller, fuller by design said...

Ooooh this class looks really wonderful! My very favorite flower is the tulip - so graceful and elegant!

forestwalk said...

I don't think I can choose a favorite flower. Each one has such interesting features!

Molly said...

I love blue/purple hydrangeas. I wanted to use them in my wedding bouquet, but they were out of season. My cousin looked everywhere and finally found some and they were absolutely beautiful. I now have several bushes of them in my backyard that I photograph all summer long.

NatureMama said...

Oh boy....how can I choose just one favorite? I would say lavender because it holds so many special qualities.

TheFoleyFive said...

oh goodness...how to pick just one...the orange poppy is probably my heart. The whimsical beauty of a flower that opens for the sun, always captured me as a child. but the unfurled magic of peonies, and the quickness in which they dissolve...is just as magical to me.

NW Ellipsis said...

i love poppies among many others.

Yarrow … which is cheating I think because the flower head looks like it's made up of many small flowers

My all-time favorite is the daffodil - it's so cheery and happy and often overlooked.

Lately, I've been loving dinner plate dahlias and chrysanthemums :D

Susan Fay said...

My favorite flowers are pink peonies. Thanks!

ladylyn said...

My favorite type of flower is wildflowers, which is totally a cheating answer because there are thousands of varieties, but I simply can't pick just one!

Diana Adamchik said...

My favorite flower is the rose!!! Beautiful watercolour flowers I hope to win a spot in this beautiful class!!

Susan Harrington said...

I better love fragrant lavender...I grow 150 plants in a 40-foot labyrinth! Of course they're not really exciting to paint, at least for this new watercolor artist. So I thought I'd choose a second favorite, the red poppy. It looks striking when appearing in the middle of a lavender field. And who could argue about the sunflower...ooops, I know, you said "favorite flower. not flowers! Love your loose style when painting flowers. It's charming.

clarayacaldwell@gmail.com said...

I am anxiously awaiting the time when I can take one of your classes. I'm sure it will be amazing. My favorite flower is the state flower of Texas....the yellow rose...not only is it gorgeous but it also has a fabulous smell. I sincerely hope I am one of the lucky five. Linda Caldwell

This is really difficult as I love all flowers. If I have to pick just one it would be the english bluebell- I love to see a carpet of them in the woodland in Spring. It makes me feel like the woods are waking up!

Lydia said...

omgosh, to pick just one favorite flower? Impossible! Ok,ok...Lavender. No wait...Hydrangeas. But you can't forget about golden Sunflowers! And what about lush spiky russian salvia? or lilacs? Who can leave out cornflowers or asters? Ok, just about any flower that's blue/purple in hue. But you need the white roses and the pink geraniums to set them off against each other. And not to forget euphorbia, those look quite cool. Ok, ok, got it now....it's peonies. No wait, it's zinnias and dahlias, they're so sweet. No, no, no, it's orchids, they are magnificent. That's it! that's my choice. Orchids! or maybe Christmas cactus in bloom. No....Amaryllis in bloom. sigh. you choose, I certainly can't.
