I don't know what other people do relax and unwind while traveling but I enjoy making little cites out of all those little hotel soap boxes. The view outside my hotel room in downtown Houston made the perfect backdrop for my city :)
OMG Alisa, you are a wonderfully creative crazy person -- and I mean that in the nicest way! Who thinks of painting their soap boxes?! I love it! (Of course, this is coming from a person who stays up into the wee hours making plushies and earrings and zines and . . . )
Those are completely awesome. I think I love them especially because they remind me of cityscapes from old 60s/70s elementary reading texts and other children's books of the time. I used to love the two- or three-color illustrations of tall city buildings in those books--such a classic illustration style, and so evocative for a kid who lived in just such a building. And they're even better in 3D! I particularly love the shot of the little buildings all lit up by the night time lights of the real city. Beautiful.

Well, that's just too much fun.
Very cute!
Do you travel with paint supplies?
I can't believe you found the time (and energy) to make art after teaching all day! Loved your class. I blogged about it, too.
