I'm new to this blog and am looking forward to having a more thorough look after my son's asleep tonight! My favourite supply are my Daniel Smith watercolours which I have been using in my visual journal. I'm fairly new to using watercolours - I've been using cheap acrylic craft paint in my journals because there's less 'product paralysis' and resistance to creating. But I'm having a lot of fun with using watercolours!

ReplyDeleteI choose the most common mundane item as my favorite. When very small, I used it to form shapes - easy and cheap. Mom was great in providing me a good eraser so I wouldn't be discouraged with less than 'perfect' attempts. Next came school where I doodled and did homework with it. It was by my side continually. Later, it was used during boring lectures and to scribble doodles and needed notes. After graduation, I used it to sketch ideas, make notes of things I saw and wanted to duplicate, and to make lists - so many lists. Finally I use it now while sketching & waiting for an appointment, in pick-up line to get my granddaughter, and to keep me busy while taking care of an active 3 year old. It allows me to draw funny pictures for him, to let him make marks and to play Sudoku as he is busy with his trucks. Once he used it to make marks and was so surprised when he looked and exclaimed, "Look, Anny, boxes, I made boxes!" when he had drawn lots of straight lines that crossed each other. A Number 2 pencil is one of the most used art supplies I have - even though a whole room is dedicated to making art and creating - that little pencil has become my very trusted friend through through 72 years of playing together.
ReplyDeleteBall point pens are my favorite
