a peek inside my next class and a GIVEAWAY

I announced my next online class Camp Wanna-Create a couple of weeks ago and today I've got a fun little preview for you! I'm also giving away 10 free spots in this class (scroll to the bottom of this post for a chance to win).

CAMP WANNA-CREATE
Begins June 18th
$50.00 early bird $35.00

Back in my early twenties, I spent the summer teaching art a  Girl Scout camp way up high in the mountains. I lived in a tent that summer and taught art and craft projects all day to girls. It was one of the most creative and inspired times of my life because it combined two of my passions- the outdoors and art. As I began planning my summer class offering this year, I was inspired my camp experiences so I've put together a really fun class for all ages called "Camp Wanna Create". It is an online class inspired by camp projects but with a totally unique and creative twist. From working on wood slices to photography to outdoor art journals and pinch pots, I've created a class with 10 lessons that will deliver inspiration and creativity all summer long!

  5. Summer in Dubai.....well with the hot scorching temperatures rising to 50degress celcium and sandstorms, my favourite thing to do is stay indoors with a cool lemonade and stay close to my sketchbooks :) But this year, I'm escaping a trip back to Singapore where the temperature is tropical all year round so it is still alright to be outdoors. :)

  13. My favorite thing about summer is all of the time I have to get some things done- house projects, craft projects, prepping-for-the-next-school-year projects. I love that I don't always have a deadline to meet. I also love that there is a 100% chance that I will not have to shovel any snow. It's pretty much the only season I can say that (snow in October or May has happened more than once around here). And, while I don't make them very often, I love to make home made popsicles in the summer.

I am an activities coordinator for the elderly and I summer best as it means I can finally get my residents outside in the sunshine without them complaining about being cold. I love them getting their hands in the soil, talking about their old gardens and favourite flowers, then picking what we have sown and grown for their bouquets to go on their dining tables.

For me personally it would also be the garden. I love the bees on the lavender, the chattering of the house martins under my eves and the feeling of going to bed full up on vitamin d and mellow from a long day outside in nature.

We love summer, because we love to create outside! Our family art business name was born from the outdoors - we created as a family, outdoors, using things found in our back yard. It is so much easier to do messy art projects if we're working outside, so my kids and I do a lot more creating together in the summertime. It's easier to focus more on your creativity when you aren't distracted worrying about the set up or the mess.

    ReplyDelete
  135. There is something about the smell of summer that always pulls at my heart - the smell of the rain right after a hot day, the smell of flowers and cut grass, the smell of bonfires and grills.

    ReplyDelete
  136. I love spring, I love fall, but summer not so much. Summers here in Texas are brutal. The grass turns yellow, the flowers die, it's too hot for the kids to play outside....we pack lots of summery activities into the short spring we have here. We hunker down at home with our a/c and fans once the temps reach high 90s. In spring I love the newness of everything...flowers, leaves on trees, grasses. And colors, oh so many colors!

Hey Alisa!! I was so excited to see this new class on your blog! And I thought I would give commenting a try, but even if I don't win a spot I will definitely purchase it on my own:) To answer your question about summer...my absolute favorite thing is the laid back atmosphere that summer brings with it. I just feel like the pressure of 'go, go, go' is off and things are a little less hectic than they are during the school year. And the fact that my three boys actually sleep in every once in a while doesn't hurt, also! Lol thanks for all the lovely content! Can't wait to join the class!!

  149. I'd love to spend my summer doing this class with you! I'm a teacher so I'm off during the summers. I love that there's no rush. I can do things at my own pace. That is pure bliss for me.

  150. I'm a teacher, so summer is the time for me to enjoy my garden 100% without any agenda. Each morning the birds sing me awake and I can define the day anyway I desire. I've recently discovered photography, so I will be snapping away at my blooms and blossoms!

  158. I sincerely wish that it were summer right now! (It's very cold in the Southern Hemisphere.) One of my favourite things is picnicking in the sunshine with friends.

  163. Mmmm...let's see...my favourite thing about summer. To sit in a shadowy place (I suffer from sun allergy) watching my daughter dance and play and suddenly stop and hurriyng towards me to let a quick kiss in my cheeks and here she goes again dancing and jumping and inventing funny poems while birds watch her with amazement... oh! and having my feets naked all day.
