A little collaboration today with my husband Andy in honor or Martin Luther King Jr. Our goal- capture his strength of character and the beauty of his message.
in honor of martin luther king jr. from Alisa Burke on Vimeo.
We transformed our collaboration into a digital print! Purchase in the shop HERE for $10, download and print. All money from this print will go the Southern Poverty Law Center.
The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) is an American nonprofit legal advocacy organization specializing in civil rights and public interest litigation. It is noted for its legal victories against white supremacist groups, its classification of hate groups and other extremist organizations, its legal representation for victims of hate groups, and its educational programs that promote tolerance.
Beautiful! Message and the art.
ReplyDeleteI love your collaborations. Somehow the black and white face with the colorful outfit and the flower garland behind portrays him so perfectly. Embracing all ideas bound by love :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a Stunning collaboration!! Bravo! ")
ReplyDeleteFantastic collaboration xx
ReplyDeleteA wonderful tribute to one of the few people in modern times that deserves to be called a role model and hero.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and fitting quote to go with.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful tribute!
ReplyDeleteWhile Andy made a great job capturing his strength of character, you ruined it with the flowers. As if beauty just can be symbolized by flowers only ? You must have been this sort of art student the prof always put off, like ummmmm hopeless *lol*
ReplyDeleteWhile I totally welcome constructive criticism "a random nick"and you are entitled to your own opinions about art and what is beautiful and what is not- this comment just seems so unnecessary on Martin Luther King Day. I mean really what is the point? If you are truly concerned about the ways in which I make art, I'd like to invite you to send me an email and lets talk about why I like to paint flowers, or what my art professors thought of me or the thoughts behind even sharing my art in this space. I'd love to have a conversation!
DeleteAndy and I had a few free hours and wanted to spend a little time together creating something that held meaning for us and instead of sharing another tutorial or a promo for a class, I posted it on this special day. It isn't always easy putting your art and ideas into the world but I'm gonna keep on doing it. So if you don't like the things I create and share then please, by all means don't read my blog cause I'm gonna keep on painting flowers :)
You just keep on painting those gorgeous flowers! Beautiful tribute and collaboration.
Deletelovelovelove!!! xoxo
ReplyDeleteBeautiful collaboration between both of your styles. xo
ReplyDeleteWhat a treat to see this in my blog queue today. Well done.
ReplyDeleteMERCI
ReplyDeleteWauw! The result is stunning!
ReplyDeleteWow, this is simply beautiful! I wonder if you would be willing to make this a downloadable print or available for purchase even? I love it so much and would love to display it!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful tribute to an awesome role model. You and Andy make a dynamite duo with your different specialties in art. What fun to be able to make art with your spouse and what an awesome role model for your daughter in working together.
ReplyDeleteThis is so beautiful! Thank you so much for putting your art out into the world. I love your big beautiful heart and authenticity you live and inspired life. Thank you for inspiring me !
ReplyDeleteWell done!!!!

ReplyDeleteI love the collaborative effort of you and Andy on this project! I especially loved the flowers that seem to create 'halo' effect, reminding of my studies of paintings and in my Art History Classes many moons ago. Thank you for sharing!
