A couple weeks ago I shared a peek into a family pottery play date where we had lots of fun throwing pots on the wheel. Well those pots dried, they were fired in the kiln and were ready for some glaze. Glazing pottery is super fun and a really great way to get colorful and expressive on dimensional surfaces. We used brushes and colorful glaze to transform our pottery into little pieces of art. Needless to say this process was a HUGE hit with the entire family (we kinda love to paint). Once the glaze was dry we fired them in the kiln again and VOILA we've got a little collection of super cool pottery! Here is a look at our process-

ReplyDeleteAh, I love it!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love pottery! I did so much in college. Putting the glaze on and waiting for it to be done firing is the best sort of anticipation. Even though you have a general idea what it's going to look like, it's still a fun surprise to see how it all turned out.
ReplyDeleteSuper cute pottery!
ReplyDeleteHaving done a little pottery through work I am familiar with the clear coat phase but I've never seen it in green! Is it a special type of finishing thing?
ReplyDeleteAlso, I'm loving the amount of black you use. It doesn't seem to be a big colour in hand painted pottery.
What a cute idea for a play date or any date really!
ReplyDeleteThe black and white ones are just gorgeous. I love them.
ReplyDeleteLove these!! Love how Lucy is so proud! What a great way to build esteem early!
