My next online class Redefine Creativity goes live this Friday, August 22nd and to celebrate I am giving away 10 free spots to the class! Below you will find all the class information and to enter to win a free spot, scroll all the way to the bottom of the post for details!
While I had been making and selling art since I was a kid, my life changed back in 2005 when I decided to rip a canvas painting off the stretcher bars and sew it into a purse for a wedding I was attending. This moment completely changed the direction of my creative career. Suddenly I discovered a new process- painting canvas and remixing it into all kinds of fashion accessories.
Through this process, I learned very quickly that I loved finding new ways to redefine creativity (heck its the concept that my entire business is built on)! Everything from using alternative supplies - to making art on unique surfaces - to finding ways to break the rules, I have been on a non stop mission to get creative in unconventional ways.
This class is all about finding ways to redefine YOUR creativity. I will demonstrate all of my favorite techniques and concepts- from working with canvas to drawing and painting on unique objects to using simple supplies to make beautiful art to using mixed media to decorate your surroundings, I have created a totally unique class that walks the line between art and craft. Get ready for lots of techniques, art/craft projects and tons of inspiration to redefine your own creativity.
Redefine Creativity is structured into 5 lessons.
IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT SUPPLIES: This class like all of my classes, does NOT have a required supply list. Instead I will be sharing the supplies that I like to use and then give you a variety of options and inspiration to use supplies that work best for your process and your budget.
To enter to win a spot in the class-
Leave me a comment
Tell me your favorite supply to work with
I'll randomly select 10 people and will announce the winners on Friday!
Good luck!

It's hard to choose just one favorite art supply becuase I love everything whait what I can be creative. But I nominate ACRYLIC PAINT as my favorite one (oh gosh, now I hear all my other art supplies screaming "what about me? What about me?...) :-)
ReplyDeleteMy current favourite supply to work with is cardboard, I recently took a collagraph course and discovered that cardboard can be used in all sorts of ways in collagraph; as a plate, as an element, it can be ripped, cut, separated into layers; its uses are endless, and it's pretty much free !

Alisa- I'm so excited to be entering a season with a blessing of time to pause be still and reflect on where God is calling me next-- as a trained art teacher with an affinity for tech and mixed media I've just moved to Shanghai and am holding Ephesians 3:20 close to my heart- essentially reminding me that God is capable of things beyond anything I could imagine. It's really a season for me to redefine who I am artistically, professionally and personally...
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I love whatever supply I have on hand... but I can't beat recycling toilet paper tubes or bubble wrap. I can't wait til my shipment arrives with everything wrapped in brown paper and bubble wrap!! I'll be set for ages with the amount of wrapping coming my way. Currently, until then, I'm relying on my travel watercolor tube brush and mini wc set that fits in my purse and goes with me everywhere. Learning the new and extensive art supply market here in Shanghai will be fun- different than India but equally affordable! Yippee! Would love to win a spot in your class! Thanks for the opportunity :)
What a great change! I love my acrylic paint! And my lino-cuts!
ReplyDeleteGreat class objective!!!! Would love to win a spot in this giveaway...

ReplyDeleteOh.My.Word. My creative life force seems to have been snatched this year with a host of family issues (like the decision to place my 68-year old mother in an Alzheimer's care unit) that has consumed almost every waking moment - and beat down my creative side - for the past six months. I am ready to reclaim that part of me, but have been so overwhelmed as to how to get back to it. I am also ready for new directions and a change that will help me blossom. This class might be just what I need. I have found an affinity for polymer clay, but I came to it as more of a canvas for my creations. I love to paint it, build miniature wearable sculptures, carve my own texture plates and push the limits of this material. I have wanted to do some doodling, Zentangling, that sort of thing on the polymer clay but haven't figured that out (I am completely self-taught and I like it that way). When people ask me where I studied for my jewelry design I tell them I have a G.G.A.... (that's God Given Ability...and I am not afraid to use it!). I need to grasp that feeling again as I have felt that it has been chipped away this year. You are such an inspiration and I would be honored to be in your class! Thank you for the generous chance. Enjoy the day! Erin

designs and found treasure art. Excited about the possibility of taking your new class!
Love and huge grace for a very large creative joy,
Jennifer

ReplyDeleteMy favorite supply: my imagination.
ReplyDeleteI would love to take one of your classes. Your work is so inspiring. My favorite supply is any kind of paint and my favorite tools are my fingers. Nothing blends or smears like those.
ReplyDeletefavorite tool is my hands…hands down. I love to finger paint. My favorite supply right now is Golden flow acrylic. I love how it spreads and the colors are intense. Yummmm.
ReplyDeleteI am all about simplicity and hence your blog has always been an inspiration of how to be creative with few supplies, to use and reuse existing products. If your blog counts as a supply, then yes, your blog is a favorite supply :)
ReplyDeleteApart from that, paper and fine tip black pen and a bold tip black pen would be my pick.
my favorite supply is sound
ReplyDeletei record sound and noise around me and transform it to sidespecific installations
your blog is awesome and such an inspiration!!!
:)
Looks like so much fun! My favourite supply to work with is soft pastels - they look like little gems of colour just waiting to be laid down!! Unfortunately, they're not as durable as paint - but just as much fun :)
ReplyDeleteIt is very hard to choose just one....but I think it would be my graphite pencils. They go everywhere I go. I also love working with watercolors, Pitt pens, fibers of all kinds....you name it! Thank you for a chance to win a place in your class. I know it will be packed with inspiration!
ReplyDeleteMy fav supply, (like choosing a fav child- ugh!) acrylic paint. No, colored pencil. No, oil paint! No, ink. Wait!... Oh dear.
ReplyDeletePigma pen, watercolors and the waterbrush
ReplyDeleteLove this class idea! My favorite supply to work with is my bits drawer. I make jewelry and the bits drawer can move me in different directions.
ReplyDeleteBright markers and mists are my favorites. Would like to visit the beach and find one of your sand drawings. The beaches of northern Oregon are so magical anyway, so finding the flowers would be frosting on the cake.
ReplyDeleteIt is possible to pick just one supply ? argh, possible not ;)
ReplyDeleteBut I would say acrylic paint as it is the base of my art, but I am not a Mixed Media artist for no reason: too many great supplies out there to explore and play with.
Thanks for the giveaway. Your class looks amazing !
Hi Alisa!
ReplyDeletewell this too sounds like a class I should take ;-) Loved your other classes, they're just so packed with inspiration and I love it that it is set up so freely that you can take ik any moment and do it all your own way using your tips&tools, perfect structure for me!
Anyway at the moment we've just moved houses and lot's of my supplies are still in boxes, so my favorite supply at the moment is my watercolor set combined with a waterbrush. I can take them anywhere and be creative even now the rest of my supplies are still unpacked....
Would love to win a free ticket, but will be adding this class to my wishlist anyhow!
~Debbie
Thank you for your generosity! A favorite supply is my round paintbrush.
ReplyDeletePainted canvas as fabric...awesome! My favorite medium is watercolor.
ReplyDeleteI've always worked with fabric but would love to try canvas. After all it's just another fabric. Thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteLOVE all art supplies. Favorite are watercolor and paper! Thank you for the opportunity!
ReplyDeleteFavorite is stamps! hand carved & funky. I would love to take your new class. I've taken a few of your workshops and all good stuff! Happy day!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite supply is fabric - I can't resist it, and it's so versatile. Crossing my fingers for a spot in the class.
