I'm thinking you would have to get rid of the umbrellas waterproof ability so the paint would stick then perhaps spray the water proof back on when finished?? Or at least that was my plan.. but you beat me to it . :) I was going to use fabric softener to remove the waterproofing.. that works well on feathers...... Hugs! deb
Yep, after your earlier delightful and inspiring post my daughter and I tried painting on a silicone coated umbrella. No go. First we tried Sharpie, then Fabric paint, then something else. So . . . Question, was this a non-silicone umbrella? I've never heard of the fabric softener thing - would that work? Thanks, Barb
Dose Alisa Burke every answer questions asked in her comment section??? I like to paint on bird feathers.... I know they are waterproof and i coated them with liquid fabric softener and let them dry ... then i could paint on them but if you wanted to use your umbrella in the rain again you would probably have to spray the finished piece with maybe Scotchguard to make it waterproof again........ am i on the right track???? Hugs! deb
