I thought good artists were open to critique, too bad you didn't publish my comment.
    Oh well.

  9. Dear "Anonymous",

To begin with I would encourage you either leave your name or send me an email at alisaburke@gmail.com so I can address that fact that you are tired of me drawing flowers and shells.

Second, this is my blog, I reserve the right to delete any comments that I feel are negative- it is very important for to keep this space as positive as possible and in my experience negative comments only inspire more negativity and back and forth conversation between readers that I don't want in this space.

Third, I honestly don't care about your opinion regarding the subject matter of what I draw. I love flowers and I love the ocean. My sketchbook is a little piece of my heart. Everything that I draw or paint revolves around the things that I love and that is never going to change- if it bores you, then move along please. I share peeks inside my sketchbook to inspire my readers to get out their supplies and start sketching. In addition, only share 1-2 pages because my sketchbook images have been copied, stolen used by other artists and companies without my permission which has greatly affected the subject matter that I share.

If you would like to discuss any of this further, please email me.

    Alisa

    My dear Alisa,

My name is Alison Lake, I'm 68 and an artist myself (though nowhere near as good as you). I believe I started my 1st comment by saying I loved your work. And I really do. I've learnt a lot from your blog and visit it often.
Since you are so creative and experimental with the materials you use, I thought it would be nice to see something equally experimental and new in your sketch book. Sometimes looking at things from someone else's eyes can take you on a whole new journey.
I did not email you because we started this conversation here and I would like to end it here as well. Of course you are free to delete/publish comments as you like.

    All the very best!

    Alison.

  14. Dear Alisa,

I see Miss Lucy has been busy with her art work too! Love that you continue to work your art and include hers as well. In the future you will look back and see this is precious and priceless work by mommy and baby. Lovely work as always and such an inspiration. Thank you for sharing your lovely sketchbook.
