creative make believe

IMG_3386Underneath it all- the creative business, the to do lists, the bills, the stress, the goals, the worry about the future, the everyday things...there is imagination, magic and whimsy that keeps my soul afloat.
IMG_3501 In our world, its hard to hold onto that childlike wonder, those simple daydreams and the make believe that was such a big part of childhood. But I have found though art and creativity those daydreams can be brought back to life. With a little imagination, anything it possible.
IMG_3419Imagination has always been a big part of my life (I don't know how you can be an artist without one!) but since becoming a mom, I have been even more inspired to use my imagination to make daydreams, stories and fairy tales into something tangible. I want to be an example to my little Lucy that magic, wonder, joy and whimsy are hiding in the most unexpected places.

  18. Loved every word. The little fairy house is so precious. When I was in Oregon in June I saw all sorts of woodsy places that truly made me think of a fairy world. Your post took me back to those memories.

  19. This is such a wonderful message! And I love the way you created this little fairy fantasy word amidst the mossy outdoors. I need to remember to do this more as I face the stresses of design school deadlines and life's worries. It can be hard to let go and think like a child, so I thank you for the reminder

    Alisa,
I read your posts daily and find them all inspiring, full of wonder and curiosity. Seeing your Lucy reminds me of my now grown up daughters. We, too, are believers in fairies and made fairy houses years ago. Make-believe, creative play is the best -- especially for Moms & Dads.

Keep it up! She'll thank you one day. And if she doesn't, you had a great time and put smiles on a lot of faces! For my smile, Thank you!
