During the fall on the Oregon Coast, when the winds are blowing east and if you are in the right place (at the right time) you can experience a true natural wonder- thousands and thousands of dragonflies on migratory flight. Thanks to a tip from a friend- I was able to be in the right place at the right time and it was something quite magical to experience- the air filled with swarms of dragonflies- their colorful wings twinkling in the sunlight. Armed with my camera I did my best to capture the moment- challenging to say the least- chasing dragon flies is no easy feat! With Lucy strapped to my back, I hiked along the shoreline and managed to capture a few cool shots but I finally gave up and just sat back and watched them twinkle and shine. Nothing could truly capture the beauty of experiencing this phenomenon in person!
I love dragonflies! :)

ReplyDeleteThis is crazy...this past Saturday evening my girlfriend and I were standing outside of her house and I noticed a swarm of dragonflies in her front yard, she said they are always there...we looked down the street at other yards and hers was the only yard that had them....they reminded me of little fairies dancing around the yard! I too tried to take some photos on my Iphone...I also shot a video which I will try to post on my blog later. Crazy that we are on opposite coasts (I live in Florida) and experienced the same joy!!!

ReplyDeleteIt's an amazing insect! In Brazil we have them in diferent colors: red body, yellow, black...Once I was on the road and suddenly lots of dragonflies appeared from nowhere dancing with the wind. Marvellous! And we have a problem with dengue fever unfortunately...they eat mosquitoes larvae. So they help us! love them!

Well Awesome photos of the dragon flies really....the point I like the most is that the photos are taken in the day time this factor makes the view of dragonflies more clear.
