ode to nature from Alisa Burke on Vimeo.
I am so excited to be announcing my next online class- Ode to Nature! I have actually been planning this class for over a year but knew that I wouldn't actually start creating it until we began our new life in beautiful Oregon.
My love of nature seems to carry over into every part of my life. From taking a walk- to looking up at the sky- to hiking a trail- to beach combing- I am constantly reminded of what a beautiful, miraculous and amazing world we live in!
This class is challenge to get back to nature, that regardless of where you live- to get outside, to make time and space to explore the world around you, to look for inspiration in the organic, to seek out the small details (in the everyday and the not so every day), to open your eyes to beauty and inspiration and to discover ways to use the natural world and all its offerings in your art and creative projects.
Ode to Nature is combination of process, prompts, inspiration and all kinds of creative techniques and projects. I will be taking you on a journey through the woods, over mountains, along beaches and bringing beautiful Oregon into your home! I will share my own personal inspiration, favorite places and things and also share ways to discover what is waiting in your own backyard and how to apply that inspiration to your creative life. We will doodle, sketch, paint, photograph, collage and craft our way through the natural world!
FAQ
I don't live near nature, can I still take the class?
In my humble opinion, nature is everywhere- not just in the majestic places! From city parks- to your local garden center- to urban landscaping- to clouds in the sky- to raindrops in a puddle- to the the birds that nest on telephone poles you can find nature just about anywhere! In this class I will be sharing all kinds of inspiring photos and video to draw inspiration from as well as sharing a variety of ways to open your eyes to your own world.
I have taken a number of your other online classes will this be a repeat of information?
Much of what I teach in many of my classes is based in a foundation of seeking/applying inspiration, sketching and painting but I try to always provide new content. While many of the video clips and photos may look familiar in my "promo material" I always provide brand new ideas, content and techniques for all of my classes.
I have no experience sketching, can I still take the class?
Of course! I try to cover a variety of different ways to go about the sketching process and so that students can pick and choose which works for their comfort level and experience.

ReplyDeleteHello from NYC!
ReplyDeleteI am surrounded by large buildings and tons of cement. BUT, I LOVE heading up to Fort Tryon Park in Upper Manhattan. The flowers and insects are amazing. The park overlooks the Hudson River which I could sit and stare at for hours.
Where would we stand without Gods beautifull nature ?
ReplyDeleteI Love it. Love from the Netherlands Petra
oh i'm excited about this one! Autumn is my favourite, it turns everything into a crazy blaze of colour ;)
ReplyDeletewww.cheekyurchin.blogspot.com
I love everything about nature but lately I've found myself particularly fascinated by trees and the intricate and unique textures of their bark.
ReplyDeleteThis class looks very inspiring. Thank you for the giveaway, and fingers crossed...
There are so many things to be inspired by in nature but I keep coming back to trees, leaves, butterflies & the sea.
ReplyDeleteI love love love this videoclip!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI will take the class!

I had to give this some thought and decided that color inspires me the most in regards to art any art projects.
ReplyDeleteNext, would be, my backyard filled with bird feeders and the birds are just amazing to watch and color comes into play all the time.
Just watching them inspires me in the morning and gets me going to do projects and things around the house.
I am lucky enough to win?
ReplyDeletelove your work!!!!
That is a tough one because there are plenty: starting from leaves and flowers, onto twigs, bushes and trees {the whole flora to be true} and sea world - yes, your photo reminded me of that - shells, seahorses, sea weed...there's so much more :)
ReplyDeleteLadybugs and feathers are my favorite.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your inspiration and the giveaway!
Hurray for another class with Alisa! Pls pick me! :) thx. xxoo
ReplyDeleteI love nature where I find my inspiration. I a lucky to be living in the South of France close to the sea and the mountains.
ReplyDeleteSince you announced your ode to nature I could not wait to register to the class. This is now done. Thanks a lot Alisa.
Alisa, thank you for such an amazing giveaway! I'd be honored to win a spot for your class! As for inspiration... Since I moved away from Moscow 4 years ago to the very-very wild tiny village close to the Caucasian mountains my creativity life just sprang up! I draw, sew, cook, etc. every day and I admire every wild bit of the nature around, especially the crazy rainbows and the way the tree leafs whisper when it's windy...
ReplyDeleteShapes, colors, hidden new spices in the Nature! I love everything in the Nature around me. In a way, the Nature calm me down, and open up my creativity every time I get stuck during creating process. I immerse myself every time I go out there with fresh eyes,a pen,and a sketchbook. Nature is the best inspirational place for me to turn to daily! ^______^ Happy creating art!
ReplyDeleteThe complexty of light, forms, colors, allways changing, in motion !
ReplyDeleteI always find flowers inspiring. The winter in the NW gets gray and dreary, so when spring/summer comes a long and all the flowers come out, I feel myself breathing easier. The colors, shapes, smells, and texture of flowers captivate me, and I find myself taking a lot of pictures so I have something to reference when the weather turns and I don't feel as inspired.
ReplyDeleteRaynaje@gmail.com
what inspires me most in the natural world - tracks and other signs of where the animals have been, what they do there, where they go from there, how they live.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, thanks for the chance, and for the class. It's perfect timing, in one month we are moving to the sea :) Happy day
ReplyDeleteI find so much inspiration right outside my door...large acres of cotton blooms are especially pretty this time of year. I love spring in the south with all of the colorful azaleas and dogwood. I live in the deep south of Alabama. we are 60 miles from the Florida coast...which we love! So much inspiration there! Would LOVE to win this. I took your last doodle class and loved it. Will cross my fingers. Thanks for the chance to win :)
ReplyDeleteHmmm, I agree this is a tough one - what inspires me most with nature? I love so many things in nature. To narrow it down a bit, I would choose sitting on our covered porch listening to the birds on a slightly misty day when the leaves of the trees get covered softly with dew. The colors all around during this time are just magical - as if by getting wet by the mist they grow brighter.
ReplyDeleteKeeping fingers crossed.
this class looks fabulous! i feel like so much of my inspiration comes from nature, from the river spot ten minutes from my house to birch trees to whales. i'm fascinated and obsessed with anything coming from the ocean.
ReplyDeletethanks for the class!
celeste.dueck@gmail.com
I would say definitely the shapes and texture of nature elements is what inspires me most. I try to recreate the depth and colors as much as possible, it gives the painting much more authenticity.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this opportunity.
predamc@gmail.com
I was waiting for this announcement!!!! I love your classes!!!
ReplyDeleteI am inspired by the magic of sunrays and everything that they fall upon. Thank you for the opportunity to win a spot in your wonderful class.
ReplyDeleteinspiring for sure!
ReplyDeleteWhat inspires me most about nature is the way it reclaims it's teritory, like the beavers moving along the waterways into the city and "aiding" by keeping the trees in check here in Vienna. :-)
ReplyDeleteUschi
I am inspired by trees and woodland. Love your classes Alisa, thanks for the opportunity.
ReplyDeleteI am inspired by leaves in the nature - especially ones that are different colors or shapes than what is considered the norm (whatever that may be). I especially love bright colors and spiral type leaves.
ReplyDeleteI am inspired by the beautiful force that created all these beauties in nature and the force which gives me a small part of its creative ability to be able to understand and respond creatively to its majestically creations.
ReplyDeletehai alisa ur a real inspiration for me to find beauty in daily things to take that brush and paint away to bliss,,,i now live in aplace which is surprisingly devoid of natural beauty but relentlessly striving to achieve..it...yes i m hopefulof finding beauy in the desert nd the bushes,,any way thanks for the blog and ur newsletters keep me alive
ReplyDeleteVery, very nice!
ReplyDeleteThe trees in the forest. I'm a real forest girl :)
ReplyDeleteI am living near the woods of vienna, so thats where you can find me and my doggie most of the time. Seeking silence and enjoing the nature
ReplyDeleteThanks for this wonderful chance! The flowers inspire me very much! Love them
ReplyDeleteNature inspires me by seeing the beautiful colors, different shapes of flowers and plants, seeing the animals, and the presents that you find on your path. The breath of the wind through your hair, the sun warms your heart and the rain that refreshes your soul. What a wonderful way to honor nature through these lessons. A warm greeting from the green heart of the Netherlands. Inge :)
ReplyDeleteI love color in nature: the blues in the skies, purple berries on green bushes, little yellow wildflowers, the extravagance of color in autumn, not to mention, all the varied flowers in their multiple colors...
ReplyDeleteI also love the shape of bare trees. That's one of my favorite things about winter. And of course the snow...
I can spend hours outside with my camera!
Thanks for the giveaway :-)
Thank you for an amazing giveaway. I am most inspired by the sea - I feel so completely at home there and love picking up shells, pebbles and watching the waves crash. And you just can't beat the smell of the sea.
ReplyDeleteI am thrilled you are enjoying your new home and new life - a true inspiration to us all xx

The beautiful coast and nature just makes me feel at peace and LOTS of gratitude. Gratitude towards God and for what he has given me. It also helps still my mind and relieves stress.
ReplyDeleteThank You Alisa.
Hi Alisa! I've taken 3 of your classes by now, and always feel like taking some more :) this one in particular seems perfect for me, since I'm always inspired by nature everywhere I go! What I like the most are plants, specially trees and their branches against the sky. Thank you for this opportunity!
ReplyDeleteThis class is just what I need to get me outside Alisa - I live in a beautiful place "where the Mountains of Mourne sweep down to the sea" but recently I've been spending way too much time inside at the computer! Thanks for the prompt to appreciate what's around us:)
ReplyDeleteI love sunsets and sunrises!!!
ReplyDeleteNature keeps me grounded. Has helped me with the grief from my husband's death. Messages from the birds. Songs the trees sing when the wind blows. Feathers. Sea shells. Mother Nature provides solace. I'd love to win a spot in your class.
ReplyDeleteTrees mostly, I love the transitions they make throughout the year.
ReplyDeleteFlowers and more flowers. But my favorite season is autumn, love the shades that the season brings.
ReplyDeleteFlowers inspire me the most. They are all so intricate and unique--it's astounding.
ReplyDeleteWhat inspires me most in nature is light. Yes, I love flowers and leaves and trees and grass and birds and shells and rocks... but what really inspires me is how light plays with these things. My girls always roll their eyes as I once again say "Look! See how the light is making that tree all different colours?!", or something similar, LOL! I aspire to one day capture light in art, I haven't really started yet. :-)
ReplyDeleteI am most inspired artistically by flowers or leaves, but spiritually... water. Any kind of water, a stream, the ocean, a lake, anything. Your class looks amazing and I'd love a chance to take this journey with you. I'll be recovering from surgery and this would be *perfect*!
ReplyDeleteI live near a lake so in addition to being inspired by it, I'm also inspired by all the wildlife it attracts. Everything from birds to mink to deer and everything in between! I would love to win a spot in your new class!
ReplyDeleteWhat inspires me most about nature is all the variety and the pace of time itself. I have to get outside everyday or I feel like I am going to go crazy. It is like a calming elixir that can not be bottled.
ReplyDelete~Dawn
I adore the textures found in nature - the patterns in the bark of trees, the variations in rocks and shells. It's endless and amazing.
ReplyDeleteFor me it's water.... creeks, rivers, ponds, lakes and rain. I wish i could get to the ocean as well but as long as there's water i feel soothed somehow. Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteWhen I lived in Colorado, the canyon on the way up to Estes Park inspired me. I never knew such amazing beauty even existed. Now that I am back in Ohio, I am partial to flowers! Love the colors. Again-amazing!
ReplyDeleteThe beauty, the colors, the birds, you name it! I constantly draw inspiration from nature for many of my projects!
ReplyDeleteI'm inspired by the color combinations in nature... especially the greens!!! This class looks fun!
ReplyDeleteRight now it is my vegetable garden. Every year I grow something different, in addition to the family favorites. I enjoy seeing how the new veggies grow and the different leaves and flowers. This year it was kale - love those curly edge leaves.
ReplyDeleteI love everything about the nature but especielly bugs, leaves, flowers and branches, and of course stones.
ReplyDeleteMaybee I should try one of your classes, I just bought your book Sew wild and I`m stuck too it, its absolutely faboulus!
Yvonne
thanks for this great giveaway! would love to win! :) leaves, buds and flowers inspire me!
ReplyDeleteHi Alisa!
ReplyDeleteI already learned so much from you, only by the simple reading of your posts.
I hope someday I will can take one or more of your online classes.
I don't expect to have something for free, because I'm not such kind of lucky person.
I'm writing here and now, only because I think this is a occasion to tell you that thanks to you I begun to see the simple things surrounding me with other eyes and to have trust in me to seek and train my deep latent creativity, day by day...
Flowers and leaves make me to wonder about how many forms of the beauty made our Nature.
From the other side of the world,I wish you and your dear ones a wonderful life in Oregon, full of creativity and inspiration!
I'm am inspired anywhere in nature. The sounds of birds, water running or lapping at the shore, the wind rustling the leaves are all calming. I like the feel of the breezes on my skin and the feel of coolness when I step into the forest.
ReplyDeleteThere are so many things, I couldn't choose.
What inspires me most in the natural world is being out there with my watercolors and observing light and shadow. The drama of light on an object or behind it or between it...
ReplyDeletenothing like it.
I always feel a sense of peace and calm when I let nature embrace me. Nature sure makes me remember what's important and good. I find lots of elements of nature inspiring: the plants, mountains, waves, the smells and sounds of what surrounds us.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to win a spot in your class. Thanks for the chance!
grace
I saw a 3 inch tall plant pushed up through a crack between the curb and the street here in lower Manhattan.
ReplyDeleteNature perseveres.
I grew up living in a house across from the woods, where we used to go for picnics and walk the dog and go on adventures all year round. My dad is an amateur photographer and I can't tell you how many slides he's got of tiny leafs and bugs and cow noses. When I became a moody teenager I lost the love of the outdoors, I'd rather spend my time inside reading depressing books and writing dark poetry. But when I moved to the UK, and joined Project 365 where you take a picture every single day of the year, it all came rushing back again. And your classes have made that connection even stronger. Now nature isn't just something to passively enjoy, but to actively do something with. To get inspired by, and use that inspiration in so many different ways.
ReplyDelete*keeping my fingers crossed so tight it hurts*
The wild and not so wild that surrounds me here in the country: cows, donkeys, crows, cardinals, jays, thrush, sperrows, golden orb spiders, and now the thousands of baby frogs that have invaded since we got 40" of rain last month......
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great class! I get inspiration from flowers and leaves and blueberry bushes, to name a few!
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteWhat inspires me most in the natural world are forces inside the earth can cause sudden drastic change, especially volcanoes: landscape created by lava hardening into rock, which, in time, will transform into soil where plants will sprout and grow.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the chance to win!
Fingers crossed!
All the best,
Mary

I seriously love clouds. Especially with sun streaming around and through them. Ever changing and do beautiful.
ReplyDeletenature..... where do i begin....the smells, the dew in the morning , the amazing colors.....and the changes never end........crossing my fingers to win... ;-)
ReplyDeleteBirds, birds, birds. And details, rather than the big picture. I'd rather look really closely at the shape of a fern's leaves or the inside of a flower than a whole field of them.
ReplyDeleteThe sea is the most beautiful for me! :)
ReplyDeleteI made my first ever trip to northern CA this spring and walked amongst the redwoods. We strolled the beach on the Pacific and saw seals and starfish and mussels and more. I then hopped to the east coast and NYC. My daughter and I walked the Highline and Central Park. Now I'm back in Michigan in my home near a little lake surrounded by my gardens. Who wouldn't be inspired? Now I need the tools to bring this wonder into my art!
ReplyDeleteI would have to say without a doubt that the ocean is what I find most inspiring in nature. I love how endless it seems, the colors, and just the sounds of waves crashing.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win a spot in class!!
:)
Toeday I went to sea some New Zealand sea lions who have found a new home on the lock that stops sea water from getting into our largest river in Australia, the Murray, these seals are now benefitting from the water in our once drought river. The last time I went to look there was very little water, this time not only the seals but so many water irds, grebes, black swans, shags as well as the land birds, top knot pigeons, swallows and I could hear a hawk calling. Magic.
ReplyDeleteLove to do another class but unless I win one I cant afford it
Good luck to all.
I love to lie on big rocks and look at the night sky. Nature can be so peaceful.
ReplyDeleteI am lucky enough to live in a natural setting.... a pond, a river, (just saw a rabbit run by!)..... but I am thankful for the birdsongs because they remind me to stop and LOOK..... it's all there for those who seek.
ReplyDeleteLove watching you and Lucy..... my g.d. is coming in a matter of days....but 3000 miles away. She will live in the mountains and the birds will call to her too.....
I love nature. I recently took your advice to see simple daily things with different eyes, and loving it still. I walk a lot to almost every where and this give me great opportunity to capture inspirations!. Thank you for the chance of wining a seat for your workshop!.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the chance to win! I am totally inspired by flowers. So many colors and shapes-I never get tired of them!
ReplyDeleteTrees and flowers are my biggest inspiration. I could spend days under a good tree in admiration.
ReplyDeleteBirds! I have always loved birds and keep several bird feeders around my house. I love listening for them and then finding them in the trees. I am also so amazed by their nests and how they can make them so perfect and tight! It is just so wonderful to me!! Thank you for this new class! I hope I win!! XOXO
ReplyDeleteIf ever I'm feeling down or fed up I can always count on nature to inspire me - it's ever changing but always there!
ReplyDeleteThis class is definitely for me, I love the outdoors, hiking and biking. I am inspired by plants and insects, birds and bugs. Thanks for a chance to win!
ReplyDeleteHi Alisa. It's so nice to hear that your move has been successful. I'd love to win a spot in your class. I have to say that I'm most inspired by trees in nature and birds and then everything else. lol
ReplyDeleteStay inspired!

I love trees and flowers and stones and sky and birds and sea and seashells and fishes... all seasons of nature; spring autumn winter summer. Yes, I love to live my life with all colors :)
ReplyDeletei love the tiny and delicate pieces of nature. those that go unnoticed by those who have not opened their eyes to see them. i would so love to win a spot in your class. you just dont know.
ReplyDeleteWhat inspires me most in the natural world is the fact that the natural world was created by the Creator of the Universe our Heavenly Father! Although we have done a pretty good job of destroying what He created, we can still look at it through His eyes and see it for what He intended it to be! God is EVERYWHERE in ALL THINGS and the fact that He called it all into being is what inspires me to want to express it through may nature journaling! Thank you for the opportunity to be a part of your give away and learn through what your eye sees!

I am so excited for your new class because I am a nature girl and outdoor lover. I try to use my own gardens and backyard as inspiration to try to keep my creations original. I am most inspired by leaves, flowers, found objects from the hiking trails, one of my favorite places to be. Someday, I would love to be able to go beach combing and find inspiration from the sea.
ReplyDeleteLeaves and feathers have always inspired me, but I am now looking even closer: lichen, moss, mushrooms. And of course light and shadows. I walk my two big dogs every morning, and am always bringing home pockets full of inspiration. I can't wait for your class!
ReplyDeletexo
I love mountains and trees, the ocean and the animals found on or near these places.
ReplyDeleteBerry and leaves combos are a delightful thing to me! Some deep rich red or blue paired with an equally saturated green. WOW! And YOU and your gift and the thoughtful way you share it with us...well, it makes getting those berries and leaves on paper not only more do-able but also a joy!
ReplyDeleteI live in Florida, and I am surrounded by nature. Outside of my house I hear a Cardinal sing, and his mate follow. Huge trees, palm tree, oak trees, and animals such a deer, racoons, and even armadillo. There's no beauty like nature to be painted on canvas. Thank you for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteIt's difficult to answer at this question in english but I try.
ReplyDeleteWhat inspires me most in the natural world they are colors. There is a lot and they are so different.
And thank you for this class.
Nature inspires me to breath and open my eyes!
ReplyDeleteEverything "nature" inspires me, but my muse is anything "leaves" and "flowers," of all kinds! Love your online classes--have learned sooo much from you! Thanks for give-away opportunity!
ReplyDeleteWe live on Lake Erie and have so much beauty to see. We love the deer, bunnies, groundhogs, etc. that we see often. I think my favorites are the driftwood, beach stones and trees. Thank you for everything that you share and do for all of us.
ReplyDeleteBest to you and your family!
Sondra
leaving the sounds and busy-ness of our daily lives to take in the sights and sounds of the beauty that surrounds us is special, totally inspiring, and makes my mind spin with possibilities
ReplyDeleteI am most inspired by water and flowers!
ReplyDeleteBright colors, a big vegetable garden, & flowers! The river, hiking through the mountains, & bike-riding...with family!
ReplyDeletei just returned from a week long trip to the lake. My favorite time was my nature walk. I enjoyed collecting things and taking pictures along the way. I was inspired by all of the different bugs and leaves. Thanks for the chance to win a spot in your class.
ReplyDeleteI'm mesmerized by flowers I see everywhere.
ReplyDeleteWhat inspires me the most is that it's always changing. I take a walk at lunch time everyday and I've discovered how everything changes in cycles. One week I see dandelions everywhere, the next week the grass is covered with tiny little purple flowers. It's so perfect. There's no resistance to change.
ReplyDeleteI love nature but don't really go out in it much. I love to draw leaves and flowers.
ReplyDeleteThanks for a chance to win a seat Alisa!
I find everything in nature inspiring - but if I have to pick just one, I'd say the seashore!
ReplyDeleteI love the quiet of nature - no machines buzzing, phones ringing. And I love the majesty of huge open spaces and the beauty in the smallest details.
ReplyDeleteWhat inspires me most is the limitless beauty of nature such as the sky and oceans. I love the idea of how boundless they can be. :D
ReplyDeleteI live on a lake and the constant changes contiue to amaze me. I never can get over how many greens there are! Have taken most all of your classes and look forward to this one as well...congrats on your move to such a lovely place surrounded by family and foliage!
ReplyDeleteBonnie L....in lovely Oconomowoc!
Hi Alisa,
ReplyDeleteI love your online classes! What inspires me most is color. I have an eye for color, especially in nature.
I live in the concrete jungle of Dubai and yet that still can't overpower the beauty of nature for me! I find the sky so beautiful and am just in love with leaves-their patterns, structure, texture, colour, all of it!
ReplyDeleteAn incredible new class !! Colors are my inspiration...thanks Alisa :-))
ReplyDeleteLeaves and the color of the sky at sunset inspire me. Sounds like a great class!
ReplyDeleteI have been leaving comments on your blog for FIVE years. You have never responded to even one of them. The class is tempting but I'd be afraid to ask a question based on how you handle your followers. You ALWAYS want my money but you never want to even say hi. It is off-putting.
ReplyDeleteit's winter in cape town, everything around mwa is a bit greyish, rainish, wettish, coldish, greenish, brownish, blueish, windish ..... and mwa just luvs it ...
ReplyDeletethe redwood trees and the ocean are my inspiration! thank you for the opportunity!

ReplyDeleteOh, I've been dying to check out one of your classes! Gosh, I'm already so inspired by nature - I think for me, interesting shapes in different plants and flowers are most inspirational!
ReplyDeleteCool class!!!!
ReplyDeleteI am most inspired by nature when I feel a breeze blow across my cheek and feel the sun beaming down on me. It makes me know that we're all connected.

ReplyDeleteFrom the ocean to the tree!
From the blue to the green!
Good luck for the new online class,
Alexandra
Leaves, birds, feathers, seeds and nuts, landscapes, it's all inspirational and all are fabulous subjects for me. I'd *love* to win a spot in your class!
ReplyDeleteMy garden! I just started seriously gardening about two years ago. Even though I spent hours out there, I am still shocked and surprised and AWED by everything new that I see every single day. It's truly inspiring to be part of that precious cycle of life, it feels like such a gift.
ReplyDeleteI am most inspired by the subtleties found in the most obvious parts of nature. The pattern of a tree bark, beads of water on grass, and the beautiful color combinations of different flowers.
ReplyDeleteLately I'm truly inspired by clouds. They are beautiful and they are constantly changing. I also love flowers and rocks! It's amazing the beauty that can be found in something as simple as a rock.
ReplyDeleteLately I've found myself more interested in finding new places to explore and more excited to spend my time in the nature. I'm mostly inspired by trees, clouds, flowers and water.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I have to say that your work is truly inspiring and it never fails to impress me! :)
When I see nature being restored...from buildings being pulled down and replaced with parks, to a flower bud appearing out of the cracks of the footpath. It's as if no matter where you are nature wants to remind you it is always around you no matter what its form may be. That is what inspires me in the natural world.
ReplyDeleteI am always in awe of the beautiful repetitive patterns found throughout nature, rings in trees, swirls in shells, waves, clouds. . .everything
ReplyDeleteWhat inspires me most about nature is it's pure awesome wonder. Every blade of grass, drop of water from a mountain stream, or dirt on a wooded path. Everything about nature is miraculous, my whole sense of being becomes clearer when I am surrounded by nature:)
ReplyDeleteEverything about nature inspires me! All of the colors, textures, facets and aura light essences and reflections. I love nature, animals and humans. What a rich world and Universe that we are blessed to live in!
ReplyDeleteNature and art are two of my passions of living!
This is a beautiful giveaway prize!

oh, this is SO ME!!!! we hike, swim in rivers and lakes and creeks, we play outside. i collect rocks, feathers, driftwood, so many things in nature! outside is my most favorite place to be and i never get tired of it!!!
ReplyDeleteFunny to read this post today having just moved to AZ from the beautiful green of Colorado about 3 weeks ago. I admit there is no doubt in my mind how inspiring and calming nature can be! This course I believe will challenge me to have that same connection even here in the desert. Thanks for the offering!
ReplyDeleteThe beach is always an inspiration for me! I grew up near the ocean, and though I have lived away from it, it seems to have seeped into my blood, with its pebbles and feathers, shells and wildlife, gulls and waves....
ReplyDeleteI love the smells and sounds. Eucalyptus tress and ocean waves.
ReplyDeleteWhat inspires me the most about nature are the flowers. There's so many different types, shapes, COLORS and everything about them is just so...majestic to me. No flower is the same even if they're from the same family and they can be found anywhere from your backyard to the side of the road.
ReplyDeletein the natural world i am always inspired by the color green. there are endless shades and tones of green and i could never tire of them. thank you for the opportunity. x
ReplyDeleteI live in the Sonora Desert, where beauty takes on an entirely different meaning from the norm. But it is here. I see it. Everywhere, Every day. This class will help the magic materialize. This class looks like my cup of tea!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh. I would love to take this class! Since we're moving to coastal FL in Dec.. being outside in nature is something I'm looking forward to doing more. I'm crossing my fingers for good karma! xo thanks Alisa for being you. xo
ReplyDeleteWhile I'm always in awe of beautiful flowers and trees I am completely enchanted by wildlife and can't think of anything better than walking through the bush and listening to the birds or watching the kangaroos hopping around you. Well, drawing them comes in a close second! I would love a place in your class!!!
ReplyDeleteHi from Itay, I am not an artist but I get a deep and moving feeling by admiring the way nature is so adaptable and unpredictable. A tree trunk that grows around an obstacle, the infinite variety of shapes, colours and textures, as well as the almost imperceptible variations on the apparently same looking leaves, stones, sticks.
ReplyDeleteWhere I live, in the east, I am constantly inspired by the fields near my home, with fireflies and wildflowers. Now I am on vacation on the Pacific Ocean and am amazed and inspired by the crashing of the waves and the sand and starfish...I could go on! Nature is so inspiring...
ReplyDeleteyour blog is so inspiring...I love this video and the idea of your class..hope I can get the $$ together to take it. Thanks for being you.
ReplyDeleteWhat inspires me most in nature is the full extent of creativity in view for all who choose to see. Every color exists naturally in the world, every texture, every perfect proportion, every level of contrast and value range. We just need to learn to see, to stop and discover and learn from what is freely available to each of us.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to your class!
Jo
I love things in nature that look like they've been there a LONG time... and have a nature "decay" or "worn away" look to them. The juxtaposition of those types of things with the new green or bright colors of flowers is inspiring to me. Love your art style, and thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteLove your blog. My two things: lightning and moss.
ReplyDeleteI spent 10 minutes Saturday night recording lightning from the highway. It was so beautiful.
Moss looks like a microscopic forest. And it's so soft. Is it weird that I love moss so much?
Great giveaway! I´m from Germany, my summer holidays are going to start on Wednesday, and already I am looking forward to my early-morning hikes with my two dogs, walking up our house mountain and watching from the top how the sun eats up the morning fog. Peace, inspiration, beauty!
ReplyDeleteI live in the desert and it is amazing how much it can change during the year. What was a bleak dried out trail yesterday can be transformed almost overnight when a good rain comes. Nothing competes with sky colors during early sunrise over the canyons. Love your blog and classes!
ReplyDeleteI think my Garden inspires me the most...I truley love it in all seasons...The hummingbirds zipping from flower to flower...Our baby Swallows who took their first flight last night...the bunnys in the drivway and of course my chicken happily clucking while I try to weed...Awww life in the country. :)
ReplyDeleteDenise
I am always at awe with the natural world. I am inspired by the natural creases in a elders skin, or the variations of color in an oil slick. Oohing and aahing out loud at times, to my own embarassment! The most inspiring to me are trees. Sit still long enough and they come to life and give you a show more entertaining then the latest greatest sitcom :)
ReplyDeleteThe beach. Everything about it from the sound to the smell to the shapes. LOVE it
ReplyDeleteI love the inspiration that comes from nature. My three favorites are birds, flowers and anything from the beach. Would love to win a seat, thanks for the chance.
ReplyDeleteNature is truly the Mother of us all. I crave fresh air, hearing clean water, and listening to the sounds of birds, the color green in all its forms, and the texture of bark....I could go on and on and never run out.
ReplyDeleteI love flowers, agates, the beach, trees, hills and all the colors each brings. Right now the Minnesota mosquitoes are loving me as soon as I get outside.
ReplyDeleteYou live in such a beautiful area. I love the video.
It's hard to decide when nature is just so gorgeous... I find inspiration from leaves blowing in the wind from the gorgeous zinnias and hydrageas in bloom in Rittennhouse Park... Even though I'm in the city I love how nature interacts with the man made buildings.
ReplyDeleteHi Alisa,
ReplyDeleteSince I was a kid I have enjoyed collecting little pieces of nature and bringing them home with me; shells, rocks, feathers, sticks; as well as photographing them. Now in my painting its more the colours of nature that inspire as well as the feeling of peace that comes from a nice walk in a forest or on the beach.
Donna B.
I live close to a lake where I love to just sit down and contemplate the view. Yesterday I've noticed the many colors on the ducks.... so beautiful and inspiring! God is so creative and has such a good taste! :) I'm sure I will win this course this time!!!
ReplyDeleteI love seeing dew on a spider web, or the new buds of leaves on trees in the Spring. My favorite part of nature though would have to be the sky. Especially when big, puffy clouds are present. I love your artwork, and thanks for the chance to win a spot in your upcoming class!
ReplyDeleteI am inspired by clouds. The wonderful shapes they make and the spectacular colors they are as the sun sets. I love flowers (thanks to my mother) with the different textures and colors and shapes they come in. I also have a deep love of the ocean and beaches. I would be so happy if I could explore a beach every day.
ReplyDeleteI love the ocean. The sand, shells, and rocks. I have a small collection of rocks.
ReplyDeleteFlowers, crystals and anything regarding trees - their organic textures and fractal branching similar to blood vessels and nerves in our body. How things at the microscopic level and macroscopic look strikingly similar :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful idea for a course! My muse is trees so this course particularly interests me! Good luck with it!
ReplyDeleteI love flowers and leaves and the beautiful color palletes you can find in nature.
ReplyDeleteI love watching my children in the mist of nature. I love seeing them discovering and basking in it. I love to watch birds and and the sky. Herbal plants draws me in and dirt on my feet makes me feel grounded
ReplyDeleteWow, so much inspires me...I'd have to say my favorite is leaves! Every color, texture & size. I could sketch them all day. And then it would be flowers : )
ReplyDeleteI'm always happiest near water. An ocean with plenty of opportunities for beach combing is best.
ReplyDeleteOh, oh, ALL of nature inspires me. I take a daily walk along our country road and feel truly blessed to hear birdsong and insects sounds as I go along. Living in Texas, we do have some amazing clouds in the summer that always make me stop and take notice, I'm also completely moved by fog, which only happens a couple of times a year. I love to see how it engulfs the landscape and comforts the trees.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a wonderful class!
ReplyDeleteI think my favourite inspiration in the natural world is landscapes, especially the beautiful Canadian prairies.
I love your classes! I am most inspired by the sea! It is so beautiful and relaxing.
ReplyDeleteSince I do live in a place full of beautiful nature scenes this course seems right up my alley. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI think what inspires me most in nature is the cycle of the seasons. The way it's always changing and growing, decaying and being born again. I love to live in a place where the seasons are clearly visible and see how they affect nature and all that lives in it.
This class looks amazing! I am most inspired by shells and flowers (easy answer) and also by things in nature that don't make sense mathematically (so to speak). I love my eggplants right now in my garden, because it just doesn't compute with me to a degree that this thin stem can stand so tall and hold this big heavy vegetable. Same with some bugs and mushrooms and flowers and and and...I love when nature overrides what makes sense to us in our minds (oh another example is when there is a huge rain, and the most delicate and detailed flowers go through the storm without one dropped petal. Sorry to babble! Thanks for the chance to win! xo
ReplyDeleteWhat inspires me most is when there is a storm rolling in on the horizon. A really dark storm. The colors of everything around you begin to contrast and really standout. This is the time that I am most artistically inspired. Everything looks like eye candy.
ReplyDeleteWhile I find much in nature to delight me, I am most fond of the ocean with its movement, sounds, and smells, and I love rocks, stones, and boulders. Living in New England, where stone and rocks abound, I especially enjoy the lichen patterns that grow on them. Oh, and I can't forget tree bark!
ReplyDeleteTrees- I LOVE trees. And the ocean.
ReplyDeleteWhat inspires me most are the little treasures found on afternoon strolls on the park trails...pebbles, shells, feathers, flowers. The pacific northwest has it all!
ReplyDeletePeace, serenity, being closer to God and just taking a deep breath and exhaling. Looking around and taking in all that nature has given us and, being from the Midwest, looking over the hills of the gorgeous farmfields that surround us - pure, 100% inspiration. That is what nature is to me.
ReplyDeleteI love walking my dogs in a local park where I can enjoy the beautiful trees, fallen leaves and views of the ocean. It is a wonderful place and I bring home many leaves to try to sketch and paint. This class sounds so perfect to encourage me forward. Thanks for offering it.
ReplyDeleteI love the ocean and trees/woods the most! nothing beats the smell of the woods. I especially like really tall trees, like in the Redwoods!
ReplyDeleteAs a landscape painter I love light and shadow, especially on clouds! I think I get so excited about clouds because we don't get many here and when we do it is really exciting!
ReplyDeleteI would like to learn to focus on more close up details. I believe improving my drawing skills will help my painting skills!!!
Kim
To me, nature is a mirror of all processes of living beings, including mine. In nature, death nutures life, infancy unfolds, dark and light play in natural composition, and my latest rant is how shapes force themselves into empty space and outline themselves beautifully and simply. Nature is always challenging me to think simply, unload, centre. I dream to have more of what my heart feels and senses come through my paintings. Thanks for the chance to play ALisha.
ReplyDeleteI am very inspired by sky, cloud formations, storms, sunsets and sunrises. I am also inspired by moving water, it's such a challenge to me when trying to paint it, but I enjoy the trying as much as I enjoy observing the original.
ReplyDeleteBeing still and seeing/feeling what's happening around me. The trees swaying in the wind, hearing the birds chirp, discovering flowers I've never seen along a path. I think just BEING in nature inspires me!
ReplyDeleteI love to look up at the sky or down at the ground when I'm walking to work or home from work. I'm sure that it takes me twice as long to get somewhere because I want to constantly stop and look around. My favorite time of day is evening, when the sun is lower in the sky. Everything just lights up and is so warm looking. One of my favorite nature inspired scenes is snow!
ReplyDeleteBeing still and seeing/feeling what's happening around me. The trees swaying in the wind, hearing the birds chirp, discovering flowers I've never seen along a path. I think just BEING in nature inspires me!
ReplyDeleteThere is so much that inspires me but I come alive when I am at the ocean!!
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to this new class! I just love your philosophy!!!
I just LOVE this cute video, having Lilly with you is just AWESOME!! Such a cute white skirt/blouse you were wearing.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for this chance to win and for this amazing class. Would love to win a spot!!
For me nature is a part of my everyday, the sunrise, the trees in my yard and anywhere I drive, the flowers, THE SKY and CLOUDS, leaves all of it just inspires me and makes me happy.
At the moment my husband's sunflowers are inspiring me to draw them. He planted a mixed variety of them for the first time and they are GORGEOUS and small, which is perfect for me. A new all yellow one just bloomed and is calling my name.
So excited for this class!!
Alisa - I love all your classes and Art! I'm so excited about this class...I'm truly inspired by nature as well...particularly FLOWERS!! Thank you for your inspiration!
ReplyDeleteHow to choose one thing that is inspiring in nature... I love it all. I love to be around water, creeks, rivers, lakes, ocean. I love flowers, the colors and shapes. Animals, trees, leaves, bugs, rocks! It's all beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love the colors and patterns in flowers. I love the feeling of rest and relaxation that happens by just looking at a body of water.
ReplyDeleteAnd, the sunsets are always inspiring. I am going up to the Sleeping Bear Dunes area of MI next week with my family. After watching your video, I cannot wait. Thanks for the inspiration you share, and for the chance to win!
I am lucky enough to live in Wicklow which is known as the 'Garden of Ireland'… It's so, so beautiful, from the mountains down to the sea, you couldn't ask for a more beautiful landscape.
ReplyDeleteI love the changing of the seasons… spring and autumn especially.
I love that nature is all emcompassing - one problem with living in such a beautiful landscape is that people forget to look down. Take in the minutae… pebbles, feathers, fallen leaves, shells and the small wild flowers that make their home in the cracks of a tumbling wall.
Everything in nature is always in harmony. From the simplest to the most intricate things, everything has a purpose and that's what makes nature such an inspiration to me.
ReplyDeleteNature Girl. Me! Born and raised in Hawaii and spent every summer on the shores of Lincoln City Oregon. My favorite things were ROCKS and the driftwood that I would find on the shores. I would paint, glue and create sculptures out of anything I could find in the woods and on the shorelines. So excited that you created an online class like this.
ReplyDeletePick me please. :) Thanks. Lol
This sounds amazing as always! Lake Michigan is one of my favorite natural inspirations.
ReplyDeleteI love wild flowers, and water. I've never taken one of your classes before. It looks like a lot of fun.

ReplyDeleteIrises are my favorite flowers so I'm always drawn to them as subjects for photos. And we have a lake house so I tend to have tons of photos of sky and water and clouds and trees. What I don't have there are close-ups - I need to adjust my viewfinder!!!
ReplyDeleteFlowers, colorfilled leaves, clouds, oak trees, autumn, water, sunsets on the pacific, crows, fruits & veggies, snowy mountains... I could go on & on, but I'll stop there. Thanks for this opportunity!
ReplyDeleteWhat inspires me about Nature? The sights, the sounds, the smells, the like you said "feeling small". The feeling like you have a place in the Universe. Can these things be sketched, painted, or doodled? I think so. I've taken a few of your classes Alisa and loved them but this one really speaks to me. Thanks for offering it!!
ReplyDeleteI am lucky to live about a mile away from national forest. So I get to look out my back door to HUNDREDS of pine trees. I love trees, love to paint them and the aspen trees also provide me with much inspiration. Pine cones, acorns and my dogs even!!
ReplyDeleteI love trees. I see beauty and personality in each one. Trees would always be my first choice, but close behind would be anything connected to the beach or ocean. Flowers of all kinds. I would love to take your class. Thanks for the chance.
ReplyDeleteThere is so much about nature that inspires me and so much of it is right in my own back yard, quite literally. If you just get still, you hear and see so much, it's staggering. I've always been intrigued by woods and the filtered, dappled light that enters. It's magical. I feel like there is a whole different world in there, full of wonder. And bugs, but I ignore that part. ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you for the chance to win!
