I've recently learned so much about the Brown Pelican. More than I ever wanted to know from helping my son with a school project. I even painted a huge Brown Pelican for his project. You can see it here: http://stephanieestrin.blogspot.com/2011/04/brown-pelican.html
I would never have seen these birds in my neighborhood...they are quite lovely in their air dance...grace in flight. Peace, Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart
I was at the beach in NC this last weekend and saw several of these pelicans. I love their grace, fluidity of motion and could watch them all day. Sometimes they come in so low to the water it is amazing they do not hit the water with their belly.
This made my day! I've only been to Key West twice in my life but one of my favorite things to do was to have lunch on a pier somewhere and watch the Pelicans. I love those birds:) Have a wonderful week.
Wonderful pictures, I love the bird who different and has his feet down, a beautiful rebel.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful series!
ReplyDeleteIn NC we call these "the shore patrol". Love their flight patterns.

ReplyDeleteWe had (recently passed) a German Shepard (Hank) and EVERY time we saw a pelican...we thought of Hank. We would point and say, "Hank!"
