Do you ever feel like you can't move forward in life until you stop everything and reorganize your surroundings? This was the point that I reached over the weekend. I just couldn't go another day without catching up on home projects and I talked my husband into a major DIY weekend. What started small, led to numerous trips to Home Depot, repainting walls, moving furniture, replacing light fixtures, building furniture, TOTALLY cleaning out my studio and more.
The entire living room got re-painted and completely moved around.
I splurged on flowers
and candles.
Our white wood floors got a fresh coat of paint.
We replaced the porch light.
BEFORE:
And the biggest task was cleaning and organizing my studio space. I got rid of the couch and clutter.
AFTER:
I was in desperate need of OPEN work space.
We replaced the couch with a big table for work other than painting.
My husband build me a counter
where I have FINALLY have space to keep all of my supplies in plain sight.
This will change my life!
Though we are exhausted from three days of labor and while there are a few things left to do- we both love DIY projects, working together and having everything clean and organized. Now life can resume :)
Wow,you got an amazing amount accomplished!
ReplyDeleteI love your artwork on the wall above your couch!
ReplyDeleteSo much done in so little time. It looks wonderful. You must be proud of your efforts!
ReplyDeleteWOW! did you do all of this in a week or weekend???!!!!
ReplyDeleteAmazing.
Love your art and your blog/website.
Best to you,
Sondra
Excellent! I bet that felt incredible!
ReplyDeleteHi Alisa
ReplyDeleteHave been lurking for a while now....
Love your recent sketchbook work, but my main reason for commenting is that I too am in the same phase... have totally changed my bedroom, even painted a feature wall dark redcurrant and then put an acrylic copper glaze over the top which totally freaked me out as it was so runny I had to keep brushing until almost dry but am so pleased with the results. I've installed a little writing desk on a landing and have paint to re-do the kitchen cabinets.... now if I could just find some kind person to build me some cupboards in my studio life would be sweet.
What an amazingly productive weekend/3 days! Love that fresh, organized feeling when you've made your existing space wonderful! Great job!! P.S. what does the writing/artwork on your living room wall say? Can you share?
ReplyDeleteIt all looks SO great! - you two are amazing! Congrats on your new and improved studio.
ReplyDeleteAWESOME! Your studio looks amazing!!! I always wish I had a couch in mine BUT there is so much more room without one! Your studio looks 3 times the size! Woohoo!

ReplyDeleteOMG Alisa! Love everything that you did!! Bet you'll not come outta that clean studio for a month!! Have fun!
ReplyDeletePretty pretty work room! I feel the same way! I am a school teacher and sometimes in the middle of a lesson I will stop and make everyone organize the top of their desks so they can work...and so I can think. A bit OCD? Maybe.
ReplyDeleteMay the reorganizational effort rub off on me. I'm desperate to do the same to my studio. Frankly, I don't know where to begin. You accomplished an impressive amount in 3(?) days!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a GREAT job!!!! Love the feeling of organization.....Clear space, clear to focus on work!! BRAVO!
ReplyDeleteAll the best, Sally
Wow you must have been up all night long, with no break for meals! Amazing what was accomplished. You'll have to teach us your secrets for getting it all done in limited time! Thanks for sharing...looks wonderful!

ReplyDeletewow! you two were whirling dervishes getting all that done! I'm super impressed!
ReplyDeleteLooks awesome... I need some of your enthusiasm at my house to get things done. We have been in our house for 3 years (we have done a lot to it) and I have figured out that every project leads to another project. Well worth it though!!!
ReplyDeleteOh My Gosh! I totally can not believe you accomplished ALL that in such a short amount of time! I'm going to have my husband read, I mean really read this post. (in hopes it rubs off!!)
