My brain is always going (and going and going and going) and often my struggles are not about the lack of inspiration but about too much inspiration, too many ideas and not enough time! I am convinced that I have some kind of overactive brain problem or maybe just hyperactivity. Anyway, when I least expect it I always seen to find something that sparks one of those ideas that I just can't get out of my head until I make it real. This is exactly what happened with a purse that I recently created.
I have been walking and running by this manhole thing in our neighborhood for over a year and every time I pass it I am inspired.
There is something about the design, the color and the shapes that I love- it is perfectly simple. I knew every day that I passed this spot in the street it would eventually be incorporated into a purse. I finally I snapped couple of photos and got to work! Here is a peek at how it evolved-

ReplyDeletewow amazing! Great clutch!
ReplyDeleteI love it!!!!
ReplyDeleteWonderful! Great to see it take form from a piece of "streetart" to the finished product.
ReplyDeleteAlisa....your head worries me...you must learn to stop thinking all the time.
ReplyDeleteI payed for it with a broken back and will never be as productive as I was.
Take care!
This is amazing! :) I love all your creations :)
ReplyDeleteA beautiful bag Alisa could you please sent me some of your brain creativity! My brain is sadly lacking.
ReplyDeletelove it. Your so creative and know what you mean about an overactive brain - it just doesn't stop when there is an idea there. I find writing it down helps turn off the brain in the night but there are times I jump up and "just do it". Enjoy love your blog.
ReplyDeleteSo great! U R the coolest crafter on-line!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great piece of art. Love your new clutch. Your zest for life inspires me!
ReplyDeleteOh wow-that's very cool! I love seeing how artwork goes from inspiration to final design :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I love how you're showing your inspiration.
ReplyDeleteAs a side note:
Just picked up Artful Blogging yesterday. I LOVE that magazine but try to refrain because of the cost. However, two of my favorite bloggers were included this time (you being one of them - congrats) so I had to. Loved your interview and I am following your tip on writing for the week ahead as this is my desperately needed area of focus.
Have a great weekend.
Great post- I really enjoy incorporating what I see in my everyday life into my artwork as well. I can totally see how those colors and shapes inspired you during your walks/runs.
ReplyDeleteIt is such a treat, I think, to see an idea from someone else's start to finish. Any pics from one's sketchbook are exciting, but especially when they are preceeded by one thing and proceeded by an incredibly creative handmade good that you've made. Great job! Thanks for always being inspirational!
I Love It!! New meaning to .."There is a method to your madness!"
ReplyDeleteI love it! I wish my brain worked like that!
ReplyDeletevery, very cool--good for you
ReplyDeleteIt's so helpful to hear that other people have this unquiet mind that I have. For the most part, I truly enjoy living with a busy-playground-mind but sometimes I wish it could rest a little more often.
ReplyDeleteBTW- did you know that you have been a total inspiration to my daughter who now fills her hours after work and kids with sewing, grafitti, painting! It's amazing to see what you have sparked in her! I got tickets for Houston's International Quilt show just so she could meet you.
Cute! Brilliant and inspiring. No wonder you never sleep. (Although I hope you do.)
ReplyDeleteI love the outcome! I <3 black, grey and red together and I love how you can see the resemblance from the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteThat's wonderful to discover how you were inspired for this purse! I love glancing backstage and access to other artists universe and inspiration.
ReplyDeleteThank's for sharing!
Thanks for giving us an insight into your lovely awesome creations and how they came to be!
ReplyDeleteWow you are just a super-inspiring person ... spreading around the inspiration!
LOVE this. My colors. My shapes. Love it
ReplyDeleteToo cool, thanks for sharing the evolution, that's great!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I love it! I saw you in Artful Blogging. Many of the things you said resonated with me. Using photos, sitting down and writing lots of posts to be scheduled, etc. I also find I have too much inspiration and too little time. I lay down at night to go to sleep and my brain seems to kick into full gear. Anyway, just wanted to say hi!
ReplyDeleteBRILLIANT!!!
ReplyDelete(I have the same brain problem, i can't shut it off. i would love to be able to meditate but i find it impossible to shut my head up.)
