While I have officially "hit the wall" after a busy weekend teaching, socializing and commuting back and forth to Long Beach- as usual it was a blast and I have returned with way too many photos!! I thought I would share a handful of the highlights- just to give you a little taste of what a quilt festival looks like through my eyes.
me and my brother
My entourage joined me on Saturday (entourage= my husband and brother). They followed me around with a camera, provided great entertainment in the car and got a little peak into my world. It was amusing watching them browse quilts and talk to quilters :)
Pokey Bolton demoing magic foam at the Quilting Arts booth.
I STILL get excited when I see my book somewhere.
The fabulous Jane LaFazio demoing needle felting.
Me and Judy Perez at Make it University.
Fabric everywhere.
Trimming and fiber everywhere.
Temptation to buy things EVERYWHERE.
Texture everywhere.
The creative duo- Jamie Fingle and Leslie Tucker Jeninson - co curators of the AMAZING exhibit- Beneath the Surface- standing in front of their work.
Under Foot by Jamie Fingal
SOOOO many quilts to see.
My favorite part of the weekend was FINALLY meeting Linda Woods in person! Linda is one of my favorite online friends and I love everything that she does. While we have attended the same events, we keep missing each other and finally we connected in Long Beach and I am so glad! She is just as cool as I expected and I decided that she is going to be my new best friend :)
Building Up by Kathy York
Overall the weekend was a great success!
My group and I saw you teaching, Alisa. You looked great. I also was so impressed with Kristin LaFlamme's quilt.
ReplyDeleteOMG ... I love your book. It's so freakin' inspiring. Thanks for making it! (for me)
ReplyDeleteYay ... looking forward to more of your posts ...
Yum. Yum. Yum.
ReplyDeleteWow, there were so many beautiful things to see. I can see the temptations everywhere(O:
ReplyDeleteAmazing, all of it!! I love your book, love your blog, and wish I lived near you, just to take your classes.
ReplyDeleteThe pictures are fabulous. LOVE the first building quilt...the Under Foot quiltings. The bright colors of the "rose quilt" and Building Up are so much fun. I just may have to take up quilting.
darn it, I didn't get there till Sunday and was racing the clock as the show closed. Sorry I didn't get to see you!

There were some really cool quilts at the festival! I'm so glad we finally got to meet and I am still laughing at the memory of my friend taking our photo with my iPhone :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't looked at my real camera yet but I think I have a cute photo of your husband taking photos of you. I will email it to you. I mean, I will bring it when I move in ;) Get the ice cream sandwiches ready!
I forget how cool and creative quilts can be. My ex-mother-in-law was a quilter and it put a bad taste in my mouth (well, mostly she did!). But every time I catch a quilt show of some sort, I am enthralled and intrigued at what goes into making such a work of art. My sis and I want to venture into it sometime soon. And Alisa- you looked beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThese colorful pcitures made my heart super happy!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the gorgeous eye candy! Hugs, Terri
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you enjoyed my quilt! It's been great fun to see the warm reception it is getting in teh bloggosphere -- especially amongst artists whose works I enjoy and respect too. :-)
ReplyDeleteGosh, I wish I had known you when I lived in San Diego. We could have had so much fun playing at art together. :-(
ReplyDeleteThese quilts are awesome. I want to make some artsy quilts. I'm just learning to quilt, however, so it will be a while.
Your pictures are beautiful! I hope some day to attend an event like that (distance and time are still an issue). Thanks so much for sharing your experience- it was very inspirational, have a Blessed week!
ReplyDeletei love the hair pieces you always wear! i want one!
ReplyDeleteSounds like so much fun! Time for you to rest up!
