My absolute favourite medium is fabric!I find it fascinating that a flat piece of fabric can turn into a three-dimensional object for practical use or decoration.

ReplyDeleteHi Alisa, my favourite process is to take a black pen or pencil and just doodle whilst calming my mind and letting my intuition come through. I get wonderful ideas for artwork this way and it has the added benefit of relaxing both the body and the mind!

And my favorite medium is usually the newest thing that I am trying although I do have some go-to's when certain projects call for them. I love following and learning about your creative process.

ReplyDeleteHi Alisa! Congratulations on the 10 years -- I'm jealous. I'm trying to work toward doing the same thing. My current favorite creative medium is my Silhouette CAMEO digital cutting system. I love how I can create greeting cards, stickers, designs for heat transfer onto clothing, designs to cut out of vinyl, and even glass etching and rhinestone designs. It's a nice addition to a crafter's toolbox.

ReplyDeleteMy absolute favorite thing to use in my art is lace. I like it for texture, for adding complexity to the art, for the history behind the lace (I wonder who wore it or what it was used for) and I love the way it looks all together with paint and ink and paper.

Collage is my happy place. I love tearing up vintage and found papers then piecing them back together into something new and beautiful. It has been a cathartic experience that has helped me put the pieces of my own life back together when things are a mess.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite process is making jewelry, but I love incorporating different mediums into it (paper, clay, resin, fabric, etc.). I love to use different materials to make the jewelry, from wire to metal to shrink plastic to found objects. I can get lost in the process for hours.

Love the idea of taking all those old paper goods and placing them in my art journals then painting,stamping,writing quotes on them or whatever and giving them another life! It is always a pleasure to read your blog, because of the beautiful bright colors you use and your wonderful photographs! Thank you for sharing!!!

ReplyDeleteCongratulations on 10 years! I have a lot of favorites, but my go-to is watercolor with ink. Specifically non-waterproof ink. I love the unexpectedness of ink bleeds and it's fun to try to make it work to my advantage. I've also recently rediscovered block printing, so that's high on the list, too :)

ReplyDeleteWhile I love all sorts of creative adventures, my very favorite is to paint with watercolors. This is because I am so very relaxed when I paint with watercolors, and many times I take them on hikes, and do much plain air painting. And I love the amazing effects that I can get with these paints.
I think my favourite right now is a combination of Pigma pens and Neocolor II Water-soluble crayons.

I love working with watercolors because it takes a certain skill to find the right balance between the color and the amount of water you need for shading purposes. I always love how watercolors come out at the end because during the process you dont get to see what the final product will look like until after everything has dried. Creating with watercolors is cathartic for me.

ReplyDeleteI loveee cheap tools! Paper towels are probably my go to. Take a big wad of them and press them onto your wet paint and it leaves amazing lines and details. Especially if you buy the "fancy pants" brands, haha! Those leave patterns and prints behind. It's one of the cheapest items I use to paint, and I can't live without it!

ReplyDeleteMy current favorite medium is photography and how many different ways I can use my images in other art forms (mixed media, fabric creations etc.) I love it all.

I cannot say that I have a favorite medium. It's usually just the medium of the moment, be it paint, ink, pencil or what have you. Congratulations on following your bliss and for sharing so much with your readers!!
ReplyDeleteI thought long about what is the thing I use the most when I make drawings, but I think I have to answer ballpoint to that. Nothing fancy, just what I always have at hand when I feel like drawing something.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite medium is whatever I have in my hands at the time. food, paint, cloth, metal - yep, whatever I dive into is my favorite at the time!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely cut paper. I had an art teacher in hs that created a project of interpreting a famous work of art with only white cut paper. Now, I prefer a bit more color, but love cutting, folding and reshaping to create.
ReplyDeleteI got married a little over two weeks ago, and almost all my art supplies aren’t accessible right now. I did manage to keep a couple of travel sized tins of watercolors and a few waterproof pens out when I was sorting and packing, so I’ve been turning to those for doing watercolor backgrounds that I can then doodle over to help me calm down. <3

Right now it's probably fabric. I've been quilting a lot over the last year. But I'm looking for new ways to expand my quilting by using thread painting.

ReplyDeleteI love making art with upcycled materials...whatever those may be. Currently I'm using a textile artists discarded faux chenille scraps (usually discarded) to make a sumptuous lap quilt. So satisfying on many levels...the creative one being working with the constraints of the material. Love your ideas, current and past ones, and use them to inspire me to get moving!

ReplyDeleteFavorite medium is paints!!! Textile, acrylic, fabric....just playing on fabric with paints keeps me sooooooo very happy! Do I use all that I create? Well, no...but that just gives me an excuse to keep playing!!!! Congrats on your 'anniversary' too!
ReplyDeleteIt is a tie, watercolors and Tombow markers (used like watercolor pens). I love how the two compliment each other and how the Tombows can pull out details.
