Daniel Smith watercolors. I've always used really cheap sets and been happy with them, and last year I tried DS and was blown away.

Charcoal is always a favorite of mine.
Koi Watercolor Pocket Field Sketch Box, 24 Colors is my favorite. And Micron pen as well. I have a set for each of my kids as well. It is so easy to use and even little kids can make beautiful pictures with the set. I love it!

right now, I'm keeping it simple with a ballpoint pen and sketchbook; creating limitations and building a daily habit to really push myself
My kids bought me an entire set of microns for my birthday last year ... that's all I need. Though I love to use more than that ... bottles of cheap satin acrylic paints and a gluestick and some awesome magazine subscriptions. that would about cover the basics of my art journaling practice.
